Show EDITORIAL: Good Sports - And We Don't Mean The Deer Hunters The grown-ups around here, and most other places, could learn much from trie youngsters. Roosevelt and Duchesne voters may not be able to get together on a bond election; but when complications appear in a football foot-ball schedule, representatives of Roosevelt, Alterra, Altamont and Uintah high schools confer and straighten- out the sore spots in a hurry. It's too bad Roosevelt lost the District 5 title, but the agreement agree-ment between Altamont and Uintah to cancel their game, originally set for Friday, allows the latter, as district representative, represen-tative, a chance to rest and consequently con-sequently gives them a better chance to come out on the long-end long-end of the score in Saturday's game against the District 4 representative. rep-resentative. Friday, before the Roosevelt-Uintah Roosevelt-Uintah game, both schools were informed that the District 5 winner was to play the winner of District 4, Saturday, Oct. 29. If Uintah won, the conference would probably wind up in a tie; as it was likely both teams would beat their opponents the following Friday. Uintah did win, and a play-off game was thus necessary between the two schools Tuesday to settle things. To make Tuesday's game pos-1 sible, Altamont and Alterra agreed that if Uintah won, the Utes would rest Friday instead of playing Altamont; and if Roosevelt won, the game with Alterra would be automatically cancelled. The Roosevelt-Alterra game will be played Friday. Yes, the boys worked their schedule problem out and it must be admitted that a tight football race is just as controversial contro-versial and as hard to settle as a bond election. |
