' Mr. and Mrs. John Mohlman and Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Cook of Duchesne were Roosevelt visitors Tuesday evening. Miss Miriam Long left for Salt Lake City Monday where she will spend some time visiting. visit-ing. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Timothy of Salt Lake City spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sabc Timothy. L. E. Potter has returned from Salt Lake City where he has been receiving medical aid. Mr. Potter is much improved in health. Mrs. Mclvin Powell of Salt Lake City is visiting relatives and friends in Roosevelt. Mrs. Presley Timothy will return with her Saturday for a visit. Mrs. Mark Bcllon and family spent the past week with her mother, Mr. J. J. Miller in Roosevelt. They returned to their home in Salt Lake City Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas, Mrs. Edna Merkley, Clem Lab-rum Lab-rum and Ray Allred of Duchesne all attended the CAP meeting held here Monday night. Ray Allred Al-lred is the instructor in drill. James P. Rasmussen of Salt Lake City spent Sunday in Roosevelt visiting his father and making plans for the rebuilding of his home which was destroyed destroy-ed by fire last fall. Mr. and Mrs. Woodie Marshall and baby from Salt Lake City spent the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken. They left Friday for Richmond, California to visit Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Campbell and to find employment. Mrs. J. R. Gillett and family, JoAnne, Beverly and Ray of Roosevelt returned home from Salt Lake after spending the past three weeks with Mr. Gillett Gil-lett who is stationed in the U S Navy at North Bend, Oregon. S 1-c Gillett was on leave on account ac-count of the death of his father, Horace J. Gillett of Midvale, and reported back to Oregon March 1st. Birthday Party Miss JoAnne Gillett was guest of honor at a birthday party par-ty last Sunday at her home. Guests present included Brad Lee Gines, Karen Gines, Homer and Leota Pitt of Roosevelt, Robert Dugdale of Ioka and Sha-Ree Sha-Ree Lloyd of Upalco. Games and refreshments were enjoyed. JoAnne Jo-Anne is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Gillett. Neighborhood Sewing Club Mrs. Louis Laris entertained the members of the Sewing club at her home Wednesday evening. Those present were Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Lee Allred, Mrs J. S. Rawlings, Mrs. Howard Andrews, LaRue Allred, Mrs. Howard Gardner and the hostess. A lovely luncheon lunch-eon was served and the evening was spent sewing. Altrus Club The Altrus club will meet at the home of Mrs. Arvilla Ritchie Thursday evening. Mrs. Reda Baxter, the president reports a very interesting program to be held. U B Medical Society Meet Dr. D. P. Whitmore entertained entertain-ed the Uintah Basin Medical society and Auxiliary at a banquet ban-quet held at the Shurtleff hotel Sunday afternoon. After the banquet, Dr. Whitmore took the doctors to the hospital where a moving picture was shown to them. Mrs. Edwards entertained the ladies at the home of Dr. L. Miles. Those present were Dr. and Mrs. Jos. F. Hanson, Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Francke and Dr. E. G. Eskelson of Vernal; Dr. and Mrs. C. D. Piper of Ft. Duchesne, Dr. L. Miles and Mrs. Homer P. Edwards of Roosevelt and the host Dr. Whitmore. Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Gardner, 1338 East 7th South, Salt Lake City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carol, to Dick Sutherland, son of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Sutherland. 2818 Chadwick Street, Salt Lake City. Carol was a former resident of Neola and attended Roosevelt High school. She is now a Junior student at the University of Utah, where she is Rush chairman chair-man of the Phi Mu sorority. Dick is now in Salt Lake spending a thirty-day leave after serving overseas in the Merchant Marines- His father is city editor of the Deseret News. Thought and Thimble Club Pearl Redmond entertained at her home recently for the Thought and Thimble club. Fay White gave some interesting information in-formation on the work of the Red Cross and read an article from the Reader's Digest entitled "How the French Fought Starvation". Star-vation". The hostess served a delicious lunch to the following members: Tina Wilkins, Hazel Beeler, Fay White, Clista Angus, Wrennetta Granger, Vivian Glea-ton, Glea-ton, Mable Allen, Mary Burgess Ardella Mitchell, Erma Jensen and Cora Johnson. Bridgette Club Club was held at the home of Mrs. Ned Bellon Thursday evening. even-ing. A lovely luncheon was served ser-ved after which tables were arranged ar-ranged for bridge. Those present pres-ent included Mrs. Mark Bellon, Mrs. Steve Bellon, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Bud Wingo, Mrs. Frank Mohlman, Miss Karma Dee Harmston. Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. Eldon Campbell, Camp-bell, Mrs. Harvey Weiss, Mrs. Louis Corbridge and the hostess. Daughters of Utah Pioneers Daughters of Pioneers meeting meet-ing will be held Friday, March 23rd at 3 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Mildred Dillman. Election of officers will be held and all members are urged to be present. Ladies Fish and Game Club The Ladies Fish and Game club will hold their next meeting meet-ing Monday, March 19th at the home of Mrs. Fay White. Election Elec-tion of officers for the coming year will be held. |
