Show ROOSEVELT TO BE SCENE OF LEGION SPEECH CONTEST The National Oratorical contest, con-test, an annually sponsored American Am-erican Legion event for high school students, will present as its 1946 theme, 'The Constitution in a Changing World." The orations ora-tions are limited to high school students and the contestants must be prepared to talk for five minutes, extemporaneously. Such is the word from the Utah Department of the American Legion. Le-gion. ' . This annual oratorical contest is an outstanding event of the American Legion and forms a major part of the Legion's Amer- 1 icanism program. Every high school student in the state is eligible el-igible for entree. The district contests will be held this year on Saturday, March 23, in Tremonton, Kays-ville, Kays-ville, Murray, Roosevelt. Lehi, Richfield and St George, under the direction of the district Am-icanism Am-icanism committee and the district commander. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in the form of a Victory Bond, and the winner of the National contest will receive a college scholarship in the amount of $5000. , The Utah Department, through its district officers, is urging ev-2ry ev-2ry high school student who is interested in public speaking to enter the 194g contest. With Roosevelt designated as one of the cities in which the district contest is to be held, the .ocal American Legion Post is extremely anxious for students rom the Roosevelt high school 'o compete for the grand prize.
