Show BASIN BRIEFS The arrival of 1948 was a howling success at the Roosevelt hospital four babies were born as the New Year put in its appearance. That would be a record rec-ord for a hospital three times the size of the local institution, and Superintendent Eldredgc is Justly Just-ly proud of the accomplishment of the hospital that is. Bible Classes The Roosevelt Baptist Church is scheduling a series of informal Bible discussion based on the Book of Ephesians, in which the public is cordially invited to participate. The Rev. Charles Ray, pastor of the Roosevelt Baptist Church, will conduct the classes which will be held Monday Mon-day through Friday, Jan. 12-16, beginning at 7 p. m. at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson and children, of Bingham Canyon, returned home Thursday after spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs Homer P. Edwards. i One student from Roosevelt and two from Myton, entered Utah State Agricultural College at Logan, at the beginning of the winter quarter. They are Joseph F. Booth, Roosevelt; Senor F. Mortensen, Jr., son of Senor Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, Sr., and Wallace II Dennis, Den-nis, Jr., son of W. H. Dennis, Sr. of Myton. Word has been received that C. C. White, manager of the J. C. Penney store at Montrose, Colo., has been elected president of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce, effective Dec. 1. Mr. White was manager of the Roosevelt store until 1944, and is well known throughout the Uintah Basin. Mrs, Parley Lambert and son, John, motored to Logan on Dec. 27 to attend the reception honoring hon-oring Mrs. Lambert's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, on their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs .Leroy Sparks, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lublin, Donald Lublin, Mr. and. ;Mrs. Ronald Lublin and their families, of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baxter, of Provo, were guests at the Paul Murphy home during the holidays. All of Mrs. Murphy's brothers and sisters sis-ters gathered at a family dinner j on Sunday for the first time all the family had been together during the past three years. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Richman and their young daughter have been visiting with Alma's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rich-man, Rich-man, of Roosevelt. While- here they attended the wedding re ception of weldon Kichman and Dorothy Beeler who were mar-! ried on Christmas day. V . Corporal Edwin Richman, another an-other son, returned Monday evening eve-ning to his station at Lettcrman General hospital in San Francisco, Fran-cisco, after a two week furlough. Dart Doings The Dart Ranch has been busy with guests and much fun during the holidays season. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Leigh (the former for-mer Ruth-Nell Dart), of Orcm, were houseguests for several days; Fredericka Dart has been home from Wasatch Academy for the Christmas vacation; Dorothy Dor-othy Dart, a senior nurse in training train-ing at the Holy Cross hospital, was home to spend Christmas eve and Christmas day; Mrs. Austin Aus-tin Brokaw, and Rose Brokaw, a student at the BYU, and Miss Ardith Powell, of Bluebell, have been dinner guests; and Mrs. Clyde Howells and children were recent guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dart, of Myton, entertained at Christmas dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dart, Dorothy, 'Fredericka and Willis. Mrs. Orville Dart was an overnight over-night guest Friday of Mrs. Wm. Jennings, of Myton. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Phillips and baby spent the holiday week visiting in Roosevelt with Mr. Phillip"s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Phillips, and in Lapoint with Mrs. Phillips' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neumcyer. Mrs. R S. Jordan went as far as Salt Lake City, Sunday, with -Joyce, who was returning to Mt. Pleasant to resume her studies at Wasatch Academy. Mayor and Mrs. Homer P. Edwards Ed-wards spent the weekend visiting visit-ing in Bingham Canyon and Salt Lake City. Dorothy Dillman, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Edwards, and Howard Brodcrick have returned to Logan Log-an to resume their studies at the USAC after spending the holidays holi-days with relatives in Roosevelt. Jack Gleaton left last week for en extended visit with relatives in Georgia. . Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harm-stcn Harm-stcn spent Tuesday and Wednesday Wednes-day in Salt Lake City, combining combin-ing business and pleasure, so we hear. "Bumps" Eldredge is again coaching the Elementary school boys in basketball. The training of the boys was inaugurated last winter by "Bumps" and before the basketball season was over the weekly program proved to be the most popular thing ever to hit the Elementary school. Go to it "Bumps," you're doing a great job with these youngsters. Prime Jacobs, Raymond Eldredge El-dredge and Merlin Reynolds flew to Las Vegas Sunday morning. Prime and Raymond returned Monday night, making the trip in four hours with Prime at the controls. Merlin remained in Vegas. It was off to California for Mr. and Mrs. Clair Ashton immediately im-mediately following the ushering usher-ing in of the New Year. They will return January 10. Mrs. LaVerl Gross, a former Roosevelt resident, has returned to her home in Long Beach, California, Cal-ifornia, after a three weeks' visit in the Basin with friends and relatives. While in Roosevelt she was a guest at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Harold Gardner. The Uintah Basin Miners Union Un-ion will hold a supper and dance at the W R Ranch east of Roosevelt Roose-velt Friday night, Jan. 9, starting' at 8 p. m.
