Show Special Features Scheduled For Basin Stock Show The Uintah Basin Junior Livestock Live-stock show, now in its tenth year, will feature a new contest when the stock feature gets under un-der way in Vernal May 20, according ac-cording to William C. Whitaker, Uintah county agent. This special feat, sponsored by the Vernal Lions Club, will be a calf scramble, sheep scramble and a greased pig contest. It has been planned as a shot of "high life" for boys of 4-H Clubs ind members of the FFA. Any 4-H'er of Future Farmer not passed his 17th birthday, still in his senior year in high school, and exhibiting exhibit-ing a beef animal in the 1947 show will be eligible for entry in the calf scramble. Eligibility for the sheep or pig contest has been announced as any boy or girl between the ages of 10 and 17 who has at least one more year of high school to complete, and who is willing to write a story on why he or she wishes to carry on a pig or sheep project. These letters must be submitted sub-mitted to the county agent or FFA supervisor by May 17. I Sponsors of the Uintah Basin Junior Livestock show predict that it will be-the biggest in the history of the 10 year old event. New space will be available for the showing of dairy cattle. The horse pulling contest, ever a sterling feature, will be held at 4 p. m., May 21. A full schedule of events will be published next week, but persons desiring detailed information infor-mation immediately are advised to contact either Uintah County Agent Whitaker, or Louis A. Jensen, agent for Duchesne county. |
