Show 1 1 irmhk Features highlight Basin's First Dairy Days PLANS for the Uintah Basin's first Dairy Days were tied together to-gether this week by Louis A. Jensen, Duchesne county agents, and William Whitaker, agent for Uintah county, and a program of educational value lo local dairymen dairy-men is scheduled to start Friday morning, May 2, at 10 a. m. in Roosevelt. Adopting a theme of: "Let's Look Into This Cow Business," the Extension Service, in cooperation cooper-ation with , the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college, State Department Depart-ment of Agriculture, and the Roosevelt Commercial Club, has left nothing undone to bring a noteworthy program to the Uintah Uin-tah Basin. Friday's session will open at 10 a. m. with W. R. Wrigley discussing, dis-cussing, "Your Dairy Dollar In The Future," which will be followed fol-lowed at 10:45 a. m; by a two-hour two-hour demonstration on the making mak-ing of cottage and cheddar cheese in the home. A. J. Morris, USAC dairy products expert, will conduct this feature, and it is intended primarily for the ladies. At the same hour, Joseph Coulam will talk to dairymen on the subject of meeting Grade A requirements at a minimum expense. ex-pense. At 11:30 a. m. Guy Stevens will present an illustrated lecture lec-ture covering slate requirements require-ments for dairy buildings. The morning session will adjourn at 12:30 p. m. for a free lunch. RE-CONVENING at 1:30 p. m. dairymen will hear A. J. Morris point out the importance of sanitation san-itation on the farm as it affects the manufactured dairy products. At 2:30 p m. Dr. Louis Madsen will speak on good dairy nutrition nutri-tion with the feeds that can be grown. The first day's session will end with an address by Dr. Hendrick Versulis on the control of cattle grub, lice flies and liver fluke. This feature is scheduled for 3:30 p. m. Saturday's session will get under way at 10;00 a. m. with Lyman Rich, of the USAC, discussing dis-cussing the subject of breeding and management. Dr. Louis L. Madsen will follow at 11 a. m., presenting a paper on nutritional nutrition-al deficiencies of dairy cattle. Free lunch will again be served . at 12, noon. Three important features will be offered at the Saturday after- noon meeting, as follows: 1 p. m.t Dr. Hendrick Versulis, Bang's disease, mastitus, and other veterinarian vet-erinarian problems; 2 p. m. Lyman Ly-man Rich, pasture management; 2:45 p. m., questions and answers ans-wers with all specialists participating, |
