Show Peruvian Crypt Yields Remains Of Conquistadors From Peru comes the news that the remains of three famous conquistadors have been discovered dis-covered in a special crypt and that they were identified by the regal robes in which they were interred. Interesting is the additional news that all of the leaders had been executed. The remains were found by a special commission, commis-sion, following leads contained in the v historical chronicles of the Inca de la Vega. Among the identified were the conqueror con-queror of Chile and the conqueror con-queror of Peru. The new reports call to mind the brutal story of the Spanish conquest of these countries. It is a story, virtually unknown by many Americans, but one that will bear study. Lack of familiarity of Latin La-tin America on the part of the American people, has left much of the former regions history his-tory untold. In time important historical discoveries may be made with the awakening of interest in Central and South America, and missing archeolog-ical archeolog-ical data may finnally be recorded. i |
