Maxwell of Salt Lake City was an Altonah visitor Monday. Mon-day. Mr. and Mrs. Foster Rhoadcs of Hanna were visiting at the home of Mr. Rhoades sister, Mrs. Clyde Lambert Wednesdav. Cpl. Max Allred is spending a two weeks' furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Allred. All-red. His wife accompanied him from Boneta. Max is serving with the Marines. Warren Beebe accompanied George Rogers of Mt. Emmons to Salt Lake City with a load of his cattle Tuesday. " Mr. and Mrs. Alden Carroll and Mrs. Fern Miller were Vernal visitors Wednesday. A program was given in the Ward hall Wednesday night to celebrate V-J Day. Jesse A. Fowler and Clyde Lambert of the American Legion presented the colors, community singing' "Star Spangled Banner," and America led by George Berrett with Mrs. Elva Snyder at the piano; prayer, Lester Maxfield; talk, Wm. R. Snyder; solo, Mrs. Nina Boswell; piano solo, Mrs. Maxine Clark; talk, Bishop Mohlman. Sgt. Albert O. Snyder arrived home Wednesday on a 2 weeks' furlough to spend with his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R, Snyder. Albert is stationed at Jefferson Park, Seattle, Washington. Wash-ington. Word was received of the birth of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Foote August 10th. The Foote family were former residents of Altonah but now live in 'Salt Lake City. Mrs. Irene Weeks of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, California was an overnight over-night guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weeks last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield and sons went to Roosevelt Wednesday night, where Mrs. Maxfield attended a D. U. P. meeting. Mrs. Jennis Oman made a trip to Salt Lake City last week to an eye specialist. Mrs. Clarence Jones, Mrs. Earl Dunsmore and Mrs. Fern Miller made a trip to Vernal Friday. The D. U. P. held their meeting meet-ing for August on the Lake Fork river Wednesday afternoon. A program was rendered and refreshments, re-freshments, were served to Mrs. Janet Beebe, Mrs. Ellen Madsen, Mrs. Atta Murray, Mrs. Olive Beebe, Mrs. Bertha Ralphs, Mrs. Ruby Powell, Mrs. Vendetta Clark, Mrs. Nina Boswell and Mrs. May R. Lambert. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Maxfield and Mr. and Mrs. Linford Maxfield Max-field left for Price Thursday to be near their son and brother who underwent an operation on his leg. Mr. and Mrs. Lavear Timothy and Mr . and Mrs. Randell Wardle and family spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ilcber Timothy and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Shiners. I Lon Dump was taken to Salt Lake City for medical care, his sons, Leon Willard and Raymond accompanied him. Willard returned re-turned to his post in California, He is serving with the Merchant Marines, Mrs. Alice Swassey and family of Boneta was visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Carroll last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Snyder received re-ceived a letter from their son, Curtis saying he had spent a night the middle of July with his youngest brother, Keith on Okinawa. Okin-awa. Curtis is serving with the Seabees and Keith is a Pfc. Hans Jacobson broke his leg Thursday when a hay stacker fell on him while he" and his son, Gerald were loading it on a wagon. wag-on. Gerald took him to Salt Lake City for treatment. Mr, and Mrs. Clinton Bowden went to Salt Lake City Friday where Clinton received medical care. S. K. Daniels of Mt. Emmons was an Altonah visitor Saturday. Mrs. Millie Mecham and Mrs. Fay Case of Salt Lake City spent a few days visiting at the home of Mrs. Mary Bowden last week. While trying to fix the spring in his car Thursday, Lott Powell was hurt, when the car slipped off the jack. George Berrett took him to Salt Lake City for medical medi-cal treatment. A show was given in the Ward hall Thursday by Mrs. Dan Allred in honor of Cpl. and Mrs. Max Allred. Games and refreshments refresh-ments were enjoyed by those present and many nice gifts were received by the young couple. |
