Aug After successfully completing his single-engine fighter pilot training at the Army Air Forces Advanced Flying Training I school, Luke Field, Arizona, Harold 0. Sullivan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Sullivan, Roosevelt, Utah, received the coveted Army Air Corps silver wings at the graduation ceremonies cere-monies held on August 4, 1945. Appointed a Flight Officer in the Army of the United States, he is now awaiting final specialized special-ized training and assignment. His pilot training was received at various fields in the AAF Western West-ern Flying Training Command including Santa Ana Army Air Base, Tulare, Calif., and Merced AAF, California. Before appointment appoint-ment as an aviation cadet he was employed at the Lockheed Aircraft Corp. Burbank, Calif. He entered the Army Air Corp in October, 1943. He recently spent a leave here with his folks. His wife, the former Miss LuElla Olsen lives at Neola. PLOYD WILKERSON Floyd Wilkerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Wilkerson of Neola, has received his rating as Petty officer 3-c, He entered the Navy in January, 1944, received his "boot" training in Farragut, Idaho, was shipped overseas April, 1944 where he has been serving in the ship repair unit in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies. He is now located on the Nether-land Nether-land Indies. CAPTAIN WHITMORE RETURNS FROM OVERSEAS Captain John David Whit-more, Whit-more, son of Dr. D. P. Whitmore is visiting in Roosevelt this week with his father and daughter, Pat before continuing to Denver where his wife and daughter B. J. reside. Captain Whitmore has been serving with the Medical Unit in Italy and North Africa the past 16 months, and after a 30-day leave he is scheduled to report at Camp Bowie, Texas. He a graduate of the Rush Mdical College at Chicago, interned at St. Luke's hospital in Denver, Colorado, before entering the service. VISITING HERE Lieutenant W. Dee Orser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Orser of Rooseevlt, who has been serving aboard the U S S Wyoming the Past two years, is here on a 15-oay 15-oay leave with his wife and daughter, Nancy Ann who have been visiting at the Orser home for some time. Lieutenant Orser ill board the U S S Hempstead Supply Officer on August 30. RETURNS FROM OVERSEAS Sergeant Technician Bill Jfster, son of Mrs. Phoebe Litster of Salt Lake City, arrived we Sunday to spend a 34-day lurlough with his wife, Mrs. Jean Litster. Sgt. Litster has wen stationed with the Medical Jrpp at the 34th General Hospi-l Hospi-l In England the past 24 Whs. He landed in New Jsey Sunday, August 12 and will report for duty September !9 at Fort Douglas, he has been the service three years. Mrs. ter met him in Salt Lake ity last week. They are staying l the home of Mr. and Mrs. wvin Wardle. SERVED IN ENGLAND . Sergeant Owen Collins, son of ff. Mary Collins is home ending en-ding a 30-day furlough with trends and relatives, after spend-ng spend-ng the past 25 months in Eng-nd- Sgt. Collins is an Airplane Si nic in the Air Corp has been in the service since April 6, 1942. After his furlough " hi W!U rePrt back to duty at a case In California. HOME ON FURLOUGH Cpl. Reed H. McClellan of the 212th Mobile Training Unit, which is stationed at MacDill Field, Tampa, Florida returned Monday after enjoying a 15-day furlough with his wife and daughter. Cpl. McClellan entered the service September 9, 1943, while stationed at Lowry Field, Denver, Den-ver, Colorado, he was an instructor instruc-tor on B-29 Remote Control Turrets. Due to his previous experience ex-perience plus afmy training, he was chosen for a Mobile training train-ing unit instructor. While here Cpl. and Mrs. McClellan spent a few days visiting and shopping in Salt Lake City and Ogden. RETURNS TO DUTY Corporal William Edsel Murphy, Mur-phy, who has been home on a furlough left Sunday, August 12th for Boiling Field, Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. He works in the Pentagon building in the National Nation-al Headquarters office of the Air Corp. Was shipped there in March, 1945, from he air force Headquarters office at Waco, Texas. He is the nephew and foster son of Mrs. Pearl Edwards of Myton. He graduated from the Roosevelt high school in the year of 1942. Then attended the A. C. at Logan before enlisting in the army as an air cadet. He went into training March 31, 1943. |
