Show PERSONALS and SOCIETY Bridgetto Club Mrs. Bennie Schmiett entertained enter-tained the members of the Bridg-ette Bridg-ette club at her home Thursday evening. After a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served tables were arranged ar-ranged for bridge. Those present were Mrs., Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Steve Bellon, Mrs. Gordon Harm-ston, Harm-ston, Mrs. Glen Miller, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Karl Burgess, Bur-gess, Mrs. Bob Huish, Mrs. Frank Mohlman, Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. Bernard Larsen and Miss Karma Dee Ilarmston. Friday Bridge Mrs. Sam G. Weiss was hostess to the Friday bridge club members mem-bers at her home Friday evening. Covers were laid for Mrs. Fred C. Ferron, Mrs. Gordon Ilarmston, Ilarm-ston, Mrs. Glen Miller, Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. Frank Mohlman, Mohl-man, Mrs. V. A. Bair, Mrs. Les Mullins, Mrs. Axel Birch, Mrs. J. O. Orser, Mrs. Robert Huish, Mrs. Louis Corbridge and the hostess, Mrs. Weiss. Weiner Roast The Thursday night bible club for young people which meets at the home of the Gregory's, enjoyed en-joyed a hike and weiner roast recently. All young people of Roosevelt are cordially invited to attend the Thursday night bible club. Birthday Party A Birthday party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Bair in honor of their son, Glen on his 8th birthday anniversary. Refreshments and games were enjoyed by John and Dickie Rup-pel, Rup-pel, Roy and Neil Eager, Sunny Mecham, Douglas Malin and Quin Corbridge. Glen was assisted assist-ed by his mother. H. B. Bell of Spanish Fork was transacting business in Duchesne last Tuesday. The American Legion auxiliary auxil-iary of Duchesne Post No. 22 held its annual election last Monday Mon-day evening at the Legion Chateau. Cha-teau. The newly elected officers are: President, Mrs. Hazel T. Bond, first vice president, Mrs. Beth Rowley, second vice president, presi-dent, Mrs. Sarah Rasmussen, sergeant at arms, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowley, treasurer, Mrs. Nellie H. Jones and chaplain, Mrs. Bessie Bes-sie Barton. Mrs. Zella Cowan is spending a month's vacation in California, from there she will go to Bremerton, Brem-erton, Washington to attend the wedding of her son. Bob who is to marry Miss Ruth Veldee of that city. Honoring the 80th birthday anniversary an-niversary of Mrs. Nellie Feller, open house was held at her home last Friday. Many friends called to extend to Mrs. Feller their best wishes. Mrs. Helen Odckirk left last week for Casper, Wyoming, where she will visit with her son in law and daughter, Sergeant Ser-geant and Mrs. Norbert Baum. Birchell Stewart of Myton was attending to business matters in Duchesne last Tuesday. Funeral services for John O. Watters was conducted in the L D S chapel on Thursday. Mr. Watters, an early Uintah Basin pioneer and veteran of the Spanish Span-ish American war, died in the Veteran's hospital in Salt Lake City on June 12th. Mr. Watters had resided in Duchesne and vicinity vic-inity for the past 38 years, being one of the early homesteaders here. He is survived by his widow, wi-dow, and a nephew, Clyde Rice of Duchesne and other relatives in California. Mrs. Howard Cowan and children chil-dren spent a few days in Tal-mage Tal-mage last week visiting with relatives. rel-atives. Mrs. Cowan's brother, Paul Burton was home on a leave from the Navy, where he has been serving on an aircraft carrier. car-rier. This was his first J.eave in two years of service. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Powers of Salt Lake City spent last Wed-' nesday in Duchesne and vicinity. Denzil Hemphill of Myton and A. C. Hurd of Independence, Kansas were attending to business busi-ness matters in connection with the R. L. Hurd estate, in Du-on Du-on Friday. Donald Marsing, who is serving serv-ing with the air corp. arrived in Duchesne this week for a short visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Marsing. His wife accompanied him and will visit here for a short time. Dean Reynolds, who is serving in the Infantry division of the Army in Georgia spent a ten day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Reynolds in Duchesne. Ed Crosby of Mt. Emmons was |
