Show HERE VISITING Ted Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Phillips who has been training in the medical corps at Camp Barkley, Texas, since his induction into the service last September, is home on a short furlough. E3 Pan PROMOTED TO 1st LT. Word has been received that Howard Harmston has been promoted pro-moted from 2nd to 1st Lieutenant. Lieuten-ant. Lt. Harmston has completed complet-ed nine missions over Germany and has been awarded the Air Medal. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston of Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Lt. Harmston enlisted in February, 1940 and was sent overseas in November, 1943. PVT. GLENN OSTLER . Pvt. Glenn Ostler, son of Mr. and Wm. J. Ostler, spent a few days visiting with friends and relatives in Hancock Cove recently. re-cently. He was Inducted into the Service July 6, 1943; received his basic training at Camp Roberts Ro-berts and was then sent to the Arizona-California desert on maneuvers. Pvt. Ostler left Monday for Fort Dix, New Jersey Jer-sey where he is now stationed. Mrs. Ruth Ostler and Mrs. Marba Mecham entertained a group of young folks in Hancock Han-cock Cove Saturday night in honor of Pvt. Olster. . 'to fa BECOMES PARATROOPER Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum F. Gurr of Hayden, Utah received word January 14, 1944, that their son, Sgt. Hyrum D. Gurr has won the right to wear the world-famous wings and boots of the United States Army Volunteer Paratrooper, Para-trooper, World War 2's most feared warrior. He made his fifth and qualifing jump, a night tactical leap indentical to actual combat work in Sicily, which completed his four weeks of jump training. |
