Show BASIN BRIEFS Roosevelt friends of the Kay Alexander family, Myton. whose possessions were totally wiped out in a recent fire, are raisins funds to assist the family. So far Roosevelt people have donated almost $150. Mrs. Frank Yack, Mrs. Floyd Labrum and Mrs. Parley Rawl-ings Rawl-ings attended the luncheon for outgoing- officers of the Uintah Basin Women's Federated clubs, held Thursday at Hotel Vernal. Miss Fredricka Dart. Myton. moderator of the Presbyterian Youth Synod of Utah, attended the national council meeting of leading young people in Youth Synods in the United States. July 4-10. at Linwood College in St. Charles. Mo. Miss Dart, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Dart, will visit friends and relatives in Denver and Longmont, Colo., before returning re-turning to Myton. John E. Fausett. Myton. who ! is attending Boys State, won the l first district judge's chair in last Friday's election while running on the Nationalist ticket. He and other state officials were sworn into office last Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Snow and daughter went to Salt Lake Sat-1 Sat-1 urday to attend the wedding of Mrs. Snow's sister. Grace Olsen. &!r. Snow officiated at the wedding wed-ding ceremony, Mrs. Snow was matron of honor, and their daughter was flower girl. Alta Jackson, Maurine Gilbert, Yvonne Fretwcll, Louise Stoddard, Stod-dard, Renee Stewart, Peggy Luke and LaVaur Reynolds left Wednesday morning' for a two-day two-day camping trip in Uinta canyon. James Bacon, Montwel, has been chosen sectional chairman of the Boy Scouts of America for the four Uintah Basin stakes. Mrs. Eugene Harmston and Mrs. J. V. McLea went to Salt Lake Sunday to be with their sister. Mrs. Snellon Johnson, of Vernal, who underwent an eye operation last week, Sharlene Bellon, who has been working in San Francisco, is home to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. X. Bellon, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gurr, of Richfield, were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. Gurr's sister sis-ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Oldroyd. Andy Norling, accompanied by Mrs. Ted Harmston and her son, Richard Kent, left Sunday for I Vallejo, California for a week's visit. On their return trip, they will be accompanied by Mrs. Norling, who will remain in Roosevelt until the new Harmston Harm-ston building is completed. Myrle Searle, of San Francisco, visited in Roosevelt last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Foster and family, of Hawaii, arrived in Roosevelt last weekv with Mrs. Foster's mother, Mrs. Jessie Rob-ison, Rob-ison, after spending a week touring tour-ing Yellowstone Park. Danny Beeler left Monday to spend a week's vacation in Salt Lake City and Ogden. While away he will be a guest at the home of his cousin, Jack Glenn. Greg Harmston, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harmston, was released from the Roosevelt hospital Monday after a four-day stay. Jack Zimmerman, Horace Al-lred, Al-lred, Glenn Goodrich, Mac Zimmerman Zim-merman and Lynn Orser drove to Salt Lake Tuesday to attend the fights. They returned the same night. Mr. and Mrs. George Buchanan and family attended a family reunion re-union Saturday in Provo canyon. Miss Joan Nielson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nielson, left last week by bus for Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. where she will spend a month or six weeks visiting vis-iting with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon S. Rasmus-sen. Rasmus-sen. The Uintah Basin picnic will be held Sunday, July 17, all day, at the Los Angeles South Gate recreational center, two blocks west of Atlantic blvd., at Tweedy blvd. and Hildreth ave. Uintah Basin vacationers are invited to bring their lunches and renew friendships with people peo-ple who have moved to the coast. Swimming, baseball, tennis and horseshoe facilities are nearby and there are plenty of tables in the shade. 2-t Mrs. Pearl Swain had as guests over the weekend Mr. and Mrs. D. L. (Wick) Swain and son, of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. George Hawkins, San Francisco; and Bernell Swain, Boulder City, Nevada. The group enjoyed a picnic in Uinta canyon Sunday afternoon, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Page and Mr. and Mrs, Les Swain, of Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Wick Swain and son, and Bernell Swain returned to their homes Sunday evening, Mr. and .Mrs. Hawkins remained here for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Murphy and family motored to Salt Lake Monday to attend the circus. Mrs. Gary Orchard, of Salt Lake, the former LaRaine Peterson, Peter-son, visited last weekend with Bonnie Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Ashton returned re-turned from Salt Lake Tuesday. Mrs. Ashton is now convalescing at her home following an operation opera-tion on her knee. |
