Show BASIN BRIEFS Bible Class Non -sectarian Bible Class studies are conducted each Sunday Sun-day morning at 10:00 a. m. at the M. G. Penfield residence, Bible Class is followed immediately immed-iately by Sacrament meeting. All persons interested are cordially invited to attend these classes. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dillman spent Thanksgiving with relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake City. John C. Zimmerman. Ted Harmston, Lynn Nickel and son, Axel Anderson and Robert Andrews An-drews returned from, their elk hunt, Wednesday evening. They reported enjoyable weather and gpod elk hunting, each member of the party having brought down his prized elk.. Carl Davis, of Provo, is spending spend-ing a few days in Roosevelt in his official"capacity as extension agent for the Wasatch Chemical company, Mr. Davis was former- j ly county agent for Duchesne county, with headquarters at Roosevelt. Miss Eunice Long is visiting in Salt Lake City for a few days with relatives. Mrs. Edmond P. Evans and Mr. and Mrs. David M. Evans, of Salt Lake City, arc house guests at the Ray E. Dillman residence. Mrs. Wm. Mann and her mother, Mrs. Ira Bryant, have been visiting friends in Roosev-tel Roosev-tel Hollis Hullinger made a bun-siness bun-siness trip to Salt Lake this week. we-ek. Mr. and M.rs. Jess R. Allen spent the weekend visiting in Salt Lake City. ALTERRA HIGH SCHOOL The Thanksgiving dance, sponsored spon-sored by the Seminary graduating gradu-ating class on November 27, was an eminently successful affair. The Deadenders defeated the Wolverines at basketball Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, Nov. 27, with a score of 21 to 9. Monday, December 2. the Speedsters played the Bulldogs. The final scoree was 25 to 14 in favor of the Speedsters. Friday evening, December 6, Alterra Alumni will play Al-terra Al-terra High in a benefit game designed de-signed to assist the school in replacing re-placing the basketball suits which were destroyed by fire. Every one is urged to give their full support. . Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson are the proud parents of a baby boy born December 1 at a Salt Lake City hospital. The John Gilbert family gave the "Family Night" program at church last Sunday evening. Mrs Orville A. Dart, Sr. returned re-turned home from a week's visit in Salt Lake with her daughters. Kent Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson, of Roosevelt, and Jay Horrocks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theron Horrocks, of Neola, suffered minor injuries Thanksgiving evening when their car went out of control and turned over on the Neola road just north of the Roosevelt Roose-velt high school. Miss Helen Redmond returned Monday evening after spending a week's vacation, a guest of Dr. and Mrs. M. C. Campbell at their beautiful Casa Blanca apartment in Phoenix, Arizona. The Campbells and Miss Red-Mr. Red-Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Mollenhoff on Wednesday evening, November Novem-ber 27. The Mollenhoffs will be remembered as former residents resi-dents of Roosevelt, where Mr. Mollenhoff was associated with the Soil Conservation service. Tiie Roosevelt Standard arrived ar-rived at the Campbell residence during Miss Redmond's stay there and she reports that her hosts thoroughly enjoyed reading rea-ding of the activities of their friends and former neighbors. Word has been received that Boyd Mullins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Mullins, of Roosevelt, expects to arrive home in time for Christmas. Boyd was last stationed at Shemya in the A-leutians. Mr. and Mrs. Wick Swain and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Swain, of Provo, spent Thanks-piving Thanks-piving with their mother, Mrs. Pea.rl Swain, Mrs. Bernell Swain will remain here until after the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Blanche Wills, of Ogden, visited over the weekend with ' her mother, Mrs. Clara Campbell Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Dart, Jr. and three children, of Price, spent the Thanksgiving weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dart, of North Myton Bench. ' Mr. and Mrs. Tom Halcn were Thanksgiving dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Birch. Guy Bracken left for lone, California, last week, where he will ,seek employment. He is staying at the home of his sister sis-ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and j Mrs. Lynn Campbell, formerly of Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Woodie Marshall Mar-shall and baby, of Salt Lake City, spent Thanksgiving at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken. Bra-cken. Floyd Spilsbury, of Salt Lake City, and his daughter, joined Mrs. Spilsbury in Roosevelt to spend the Thanksgiving weekend. week-end. Mrs. Spilsbury has been here for some time visiting with her mother, Mrs. C. C. Larsen. u Mr. and Mrs. Van D. Winter- ton, Mrs Ray E. Dillman, Mrs Lamont Nielson, Mr. and Mrs Omni Winterton, of Roosevelt and Superintendent and Mrs W. J. Bond, of Duchesne, tended the funeral services for Mrs. Lcland Wilde at Coalville Monday, November 25. ' The home of Mr. and Mrs t) Lewis Young was completely destroyed by fire on November 1 29. The Lewises were at the corral when the fire was dis-covered dis-covered and were unable to " get anything at all from the dwelling. They are now staying at the home of Mrs. Young's n parents, Mr. and Mrs, Levi Por-ritt. Por-ritt. Young Steve Bellon is recovering recov-ering at home after having his tonsils removed. j |
