Show Ufahns Invited To Exhibit Talents En Centennial Events In thirty Utah communities- during the Centennial year, the Arts Division of the Centennial commission, under the direction of Dr. -Lorin F. Wheelwright, production manager, will present the cv;ocretta "Blossom Time," with a professional cast of forty people. As far as possible, that cast will be recruited from talented tal-ented Utahns under professional staging. Any Utahns, native or not, who have recognizable talent, have an opportunity to compete for the parts which include character char-acter parts, singers or dancers. Those who desire an audition may obtain it by contacting Dr. Lorin F. Wheelwright, Box 329, Salt Lake City 8, Utah. There are no prizes in the competition for parts other than the parts themselves. The winners will be paid professional salaries during the run of the play. For writers there is an even greater' opportunity. The Centennial Centen-nial commission is offering a prize of $1,000 to the author of a drama to commemorate the Utah Centennial. The rules and regulations are: (1) The theme may be factual or fictitious, comedy or tragedy. It must be consistent with the high ideals of the founders of the state and relate to Utah history, his-tory, past, present, or both. (2) It must be suitable in . length for a conventional evening's eve-ning's performance. (3) The author must assign exclusive rights to the Centennial Centen-nial Commission for fourteen months, June 15, 1947 to August Aug-ust 15, 1948, without other compensation com-pensation than the $1,000. All rights will revert to the author after August 15. 1948. (4) A committee of judges, whose selection will be final, will judge the entries. The committee com-mittee may make other awards to those submitting plays but not winning top place. |
