Wenthrop Mott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mott came home Saturday, Pvt. Jack Hardinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hardman left for his station Wednesday: Jack has been home two weeks. M. C. M. 3-c LaVar Peterson, son of Mr, and Mrs. N. L. Peterson Peter-son is spending a fifteen-day furlough fur-lough home. Hawkins-Crap o Bishop Harold Crapo was married mar-ried in the L D S Temple Thursday Thurs-day to Miss Beatrice Hawkins, a Bchool teacher, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Hawkins of Colona, De Blan Shihuahua, Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Crapo went to Fillmore to visit Mr. Crapo's parents and relatives. Before coming home they spent some time doing temple work. Sunday Ouiing Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gayler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Smith and family, Mr. and Mrs. Els-worth Els-worth Cox and family, and Mrs. Elnora Redford and family enjoyed en-joyed a picnic last Sunday. The Myton ward conference was honored by a visit from the Stake Presidency. Russell Todd and Lee Angus spoke on the Priesthood; two songs were rendered ren-dered by the priesthood boys and one by the teen-age group. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Solomonson served dinner to George Meran-da Meran-da and his daughter, Mrs. Lee Murdock of Pheonix, Arizona, Monday evening. Mrs. Clyde Bingham and two children went to visit her husband hus-band in California. Her mother, Mrs. Dave Allen accompanied her to assist with the children and while there she will visit her son, Fay King and two daughters, also James Oakley and Clinton Shidester and their families. Homer Robinson went to Fresno, California Saturday on business. Betty Roth of Vernal was visit-, ing over the week end with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koehler. Mrs. Don Herbert came home Sunday from the hospital. Mrs. Herbert has been ill with blood poison. Miss Irene Deshene of Provo was visiting Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard Roberts a few days last week. Aaron B. Porter and Howard How-ard Roberts went to Provo Monday Mon-day on business. Mr. Porter is Vmvinff a ranch in Pleasant Val ley. Bill Peatross has purchased a ranch on South Myton Bench. Mr. and Mrs. Romlo Artego and family of Vernal were visiting visit-ing Mr. and Mrs. Felix Quintana Monday. Mrs. Rose Englesbe and daughter, daugh-ter, Gene went to Grand Junction Junc-tion Wednesday to visit Mrs. Englesbe's son, Bill who is home on a furlough. Mrs. Rueben Snyder visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lambert of Roosevelt over the weekend. ' Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Clark and Jim Timothy of Altonah were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lydell last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clark are the parents of Mrs. Lydell. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Harris and daughter, Jeanne and Orson Ungricht came home Friday night from Salt Lake City. Orvin Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simmons of Tri-dell Tri-dell was a visitor in Lapoint during the week. Orvin is home on a furlough from the Navy after af-ter being overseas 20 months and participating in 13 major battles. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Caldwell Cald-well and Mrs. Dorothy Thompson Thomp-son attended the funeral of Ed Conklin held at Altamont on Tuesday. Mrs. Austin White and Amos Mcrkley of Vernal visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rile Blackburn Black-burn during the week. Amos is home on a furlough from the Navy and has been overseas more than a year, spending most of his time at Bouganville. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gadd and Mrs. Bill Gadd of Pop's Place visited with their daughters, Mrs. June Lee and Mrs. Eva Christenson and families during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Milton D. Alexander Alex-ander and children of Shelton, Washington, visited at the Jerry Rich home during the week. Mrs. Rich is a sister of Mr. Alexander. 4-H Club Organized Monday night. April 16, County Coun-ty Agent Russell Keetch of Vernal Ver-nal met with a group of boys and their fathers of the Lapoint District Dis-trict for the purpose of organizing organiz-ing a 4-H club with the project of starting a dairy program. Each boy was advised to buy a heifer calf from a proven sire and a tested dame. This project was favorably received and a committee consisting of Orville Swain, Rulon Rasmussen and Adrian Kump were selected to locate suitable stock for this project. pro-ject. It was agreed the calves were to be of the Holstein breed. Eight boys ordered calves and made a deposit of $25.00 for each one. Others were expected to order later. Pvt. Preston L. Seaile Receives Purple Heart Mrs. Sylvia Blackburn of Lapoint, La-point, Utah received her son, Preston's Purple heart. Preston was wounded December 16, 19-44 19-44 in Germany. He was in the hospital in Paris a little over two months. Preston entered the service October 6, 1942; went overseas ov-erseas in November, 1943, and was stationed in England until the invasion of France on D-Day. D-Day. He is serving in the antiaircraft anti-aircraft battery of Lt. Gen. Courtney H. Hodges First Army. Mrs. Melba Eaton and children of Vernal visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. I. Wilson on Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Ella Bills of Bingham was visiting Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Anderson and other relatives and friends here during the week. Mrs. Bills was a former resident of Lapoint. |
