Lila Nickcll, president, urged members to assist in the gathering of material for the D. U. P. history of Duchesne County Coun-ty soon to be published. Invocation was offered by Edith Ed-ith Elder; Sarah Goodrich gave a sketch of the life of her grandmother grand-mother Phillips; and Mary Orser told of the pioneer water supply. J Musical interludes were sung by I Mary Ellen Stewart, accompanied accompan-ied by Virginia Lambert. Romola Walker offered the benediction. Hostesses for the occasion were Florence Neilsen, Gertrude Ras-mussen Ras-mussen and Mildred Smith. 22 members and guests were in attendance. (BRIDGETTE Gay potted daffodils lent charm to the dessert supper at which Mrs. Marvell Neilsen entertained en-tertained members of Bridgette club last Thursday evening. Small tables were attractively arranged with places marked for 12 guests. Prizes were won by Mrs. Parley Par-ley Rawlings, Mrs. Johnnie Cook and Mrs. Bennie Schmiett. HOME MOVIES FEATURED Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen extended ex-tended hospitality at their residence resi-dence last Tuesday evening. A delicious dessert luncheon and home movies formed a pleasant diversion for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rich-ard Adams and Bonnie, Mr. and Mrs. Morrell Labrum and Arvin, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Old-royd. Old-royd. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING CLUB Mrs. Robert Hall was hostess to the Neighborhood Sewing Club at a delightful party at her residence on Jan. 30. A delicious salad course supper was served with covers laid for 7 guests. FRIDAY BRIDGE Potted daffodils formed the attractive at-tractive decorations at the Bennie Ben-nie Schmiett residence last Friday Fri-day evening when Mrs. Schmiett entertained members of her bridge club. Her guest list numbered num-bered sixteen. Bridge formed the diversion following luncheon. Prizes were won by Mrs. Lynn Orser, Mrs. Sam Weiss, Mrs. Ray Jordan and Mrs. Fred Ferron. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gill, of Salt Lake City, announce the engagement engage-ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, RaNee, to Earl S. Norton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mart Norton, of South Carolina. The wedding date has. been set for February 6 at the home of the bride's parents at 2138 McClelland Mc-Clelland Street. MYTON FRIDAY BRIDGE Miss Alice Todd was hostess to members and guests of the Friday Fri-day Bridge Club at her residence Friday afternoon. Guest present included Mrs. Wm.- Preece, Mrs. Wm. Kochler, Mrs. Homer Robinson, Rob-inson, Mrs. James Dalgleish, Mrs. Floyd Lamb, Mrs. W. II. Linck and Mrs. Wm. Harris. High score was won by Mrs. Harris. CELEBRATES 84th BIRTHDAY MYTON J. R. Bywatcr was honored Friday afternoon when members of his family gathered to celebrate his 84th birthday anniversary. an-niversary. A delicious dinner was served with places marked for Mr. and Mrs. Mylan Bywater, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bywater, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bywater, Mrs. James Bywater and daughter, daugh-ter, LaRee, Miss Sarah Bywater and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bywater. The honored guest has been seriously ill and is now convalescing convales-cing at his home. This occasion found him sufficiently improved to enjoy the family celebration by leaving his bed for a part of the day. older sons, Tex and Lex; and four daughters, Birdie, Theda, Yvonne and Rcncc, all of Lapoint; La-point; a brother, Marvin Smith, Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Stewart, .Wiley, Colo., and Wilma Smith, Lapoint. ANDREW O. MADSEN Funeral services for Andrew O. Madsen, of Boneta, who died Jan. 31 at his residence following follow-ing a thremonth illness, were conducted Wednesday at 1 p. m. in the Boneta Ward chapel, with Bishop Mons Johanscn in charge. Mr. Madsen was born Oct. 4, 1874 at Manti, a son of Ollic and Johanna . Anderson Madsen. He married Ruth Barton in the Manti temple, May 13, 1895. In September 1905 Mr. Madsen homesteaded near Boneta, being be-ing one of the first pioneers in the area. He moved his family here in 1907. He was an active member of the Duchesne Slake Quorum of 70's. Surviving are his widow; a son, A. B. Madsen, Boneta; a daughter, Mrs. Leola Cook, Emery; Em-ery; a sister, Mrs. Annie Bench, Duchesne; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Boneta cemetery ceme-tery under the direction of the Dillman Funeral Home. HANS CHRISTIAN KOCH GUSHER Funeral services for Hans Christian Koch, 81, were conducted Monday at 1 p. m in the Gusher Union Church with Rev. Charles Ray officiating. Opening prayer was offered by Bishop C. W. Bodily. Musical selections consisted of vocal duets by Artie Kimball and Inez Rush-ton, Rush-ton, with solo numbers by Mrs. Hyrum Domgaard., Quartet offerings of-ferings were sung by M.r. and Mrs. Harold Dillman and Mr. and Mrs, Robert Johnson. Scriptural Scrip-tural readings were given by Rev. Ray. Mr. Koch died Jan. 30 at the Roosevelt hospital after a three year illness. . Born April 25, 1866, in Germany, Ger-many, Mr. Koch came to the United States at the age of 25, settling first at Denver, Colo. He moved to the Uintah Basin in 1915, where he took up a claim at Gusher. Unmarried, Mr. Koch's only known survivors are. two boys who he helped raise, Fred and Lester Schwobe. of Gusher. I Burial was in the Roosevelt I cemetery under the direction of the Dillman Funeral Home with Rev. Ray offering the graveside prayer. Ray Kimball, George Arnold, Burns Hallett, Albert Scmkins, Alex Duvall and Hyrum Hy-rum Domgaard served as pallbearers. |
