Show In The State David R. Trevithick, Assistant General Director for the Utah GentonrUal Commission, this week announced his candidacy for , j?oveino on the Democratic ticket. ' j Tie' Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, is plan- fiing-al948 business census in the eight Rocky Mountain States. The last figures of the Census Bureau showed the value of manufactured man-ufactured goods in Utah to be $167,172,226. Utah was second high. , Colorado led the field with a value of manufactured products set ! at $221,642,666. The state school lunch program in 1947 cost a total of $1,900,-OQ0. $1,900,-OQ0. In Duchesne county the cost for school lunch programs was $72,016, or 45.7 per cent as much as the total cost, of instruction . which was $158,021. Four crow traps were set this week by the state in an effort to obtain enough of the black birds for banding and release in the crow derby to be launched by the sportsmen and the Utah Fish smd Game Department. (The only catch in the case is that the traps will not catch crows, but ravens. The bird Utahns refer to as the crow is the Western Raven, a cousin of the big black fellow who playa hob with the corn fields of the Middle West.) |
