Show Intermountain Fat Stock Show To Hold Record Sales A new all-time high mark of $500,000 in the auction of the Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show to be held at North Salt Lake on June 2, 3 and 4 was predicted as possible this year by Col. Wm. H. Adams, Sr.. auctioneer who has presided at the show since its inception in 1D36. This compares with $350,-000 $350,-000 which was paid to the exhibitors ex-hibitors of the record-breaking show in 1946. While this is q 40 per cent increase in-crease oyer the previous world's record, held by itself, Col. Adams Ad-ams makes it seem logical. "We started ten year ago with a sale of $19,000," he said, "and have been Improving each year. Last year the Spokane, Washington show set a new record with a sale of $240,000 and we beat it with a sale of $350,000. This year Spokane again showed Improvement, Im-provement, jumping to $337,000 still below our mark of last year, but a great jump over its own mark. If Salt Lake follows thU market trend it can reach the half-million mark this year." The show is open only to members mem-bers of the 4-H and FFA clubs who have grown their own ani-mala ani-mala under the direction of their own teachers. Entry may be made, only through their Instructors. More than 2,000 animals are expected to be exhibited at the show, with from 1600 to 1800 fine cattle, the rest in lambs and swine. The animals will be sifted, sift-ed, exhibited and judged the first two days with the auction on the final day. They must reach the stock yards on Sunday, June 1. Nearly 1,000 exhibitors are expected to show their animals ani-mals and take part in the entertainment enter-tainment provided at. the big show. |
