Show BASIN BRIEFS Mr. and Mrs. Dave Cooper have sold their property in Roosevelt Roos-evelt and arc leaving to make their home in Pleasant Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper are very well known throughout the Basin, Bas-in, and will be greatly missed by their many friends. Mr. A. J. Dakcr of Salt Lake City was a Roosevelt visitor the fore part of the week. Mr. Baker was formerly the Uintah Basin representative for Montgomery , Ward & Co. He moved from Roosevelt four years ago and is now employed by the Union Pacific Pa-cific Railroad Co. Mr. P. C. Johnson and family, formerly of Ioka, moved to Roosevelt on March 5. Mr, Johnson has sold his farm at Ioka to Mr. Vernal Frandson of Roosevelt. - Word has been received that Kenneth E. Zirker. son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Zirker of My-ton, My-ton, has just received his second commission and is now a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Kenneth is in the service command com-mand and is stationed at Pearl Harbor. George Searles, who has been bedfast for seven weeks was taken ta-ken to the Vernal hospital Sunday Sun-day morning. Mrs. Searles hopes there will be an improvement soon. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wis-combc Wis-combc and son of Provo were . week end guests at the home of Raymond's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiscombe. -I Jerry Stanton, Clay and Pat Wimmcr of Salt Lake City were week end visitors in Roosevelt. Clay, who was recently released from the marine Corps is attending attend-ing the University of Utah. Raymond Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jenkins of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, received his discharge from the Army on March 2 at Fort Douglas. Raymond served in the European Theater. Mrs. Margaret Rasmussen was released from the Roosevelt hospital hos-pital last Friday after being confined con-fined there for six weeks with rheumatic fever. Mrs. Bill Murdock attended a bridge party Tuesday at the home of Mrs. A. M. Murdock in Duchesne. A very amusing basketball game entertained the Roosevelt high school studentbody on Wednesday Wed-nesday when the faculty team nosed out the girls' team by a mall margin of three points. The game was played by girls' rules. Reid Malin of Salt Lake City is a guest of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Wayne Malin. Mr. Malin has recently received his discharge from the Army after having served in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations. |
