Show Geneva Steel Buys Town Of Dragerton From War Assets SALT LAKE CITY Sale of the town of Dragerton to the Geneva Steel Company for a price of $1,553,000 was approved today by War Assets Administration, Adminis-tration, it was announced by Col. D. E. Squier, Salt Lake regional reg-ional director of the disposal ag ency. Award of the bid was made in Washington, D. C. by WAA's real property review board, which has been studying more than a score of purchase proposals since the formal bid opening in Salt Lake on February 14. The steel company's bid was considered to be the highest responsible bid submitted. The town consists of 604 family-type dwellings of four,- five or six rooms each, a shopping center, post office, school building, build-ing, church, hospital, clinic, recreation rec-reation areas, water and sewage disposal systems and a fire department. de-partment. The townsite covers 377 acres of land, located nine miles from the Geneva coal mine in Horse Canyon, Carbon county. In submitting its bid. the steel company stated that its policy, would be to lease the houses to its employees "at fair and reasonable rea-sonable rentals" and eventually to offer the homes for sale at "fair and reasonable prices." |
