Show Scottish Girl . Arrives Here To Wed Reed Hancock Miss Hazel Martin Sands, fiancee of Reed Hancock, arrived arriv-ed in Roosevelt Tuesday, March 11, from Wallasey, England. Miss Sands, a native of Glasgow, Glas-gow, Scotland, was serving a mission in England for the L.. D. S. church when Great Britain Brit-ain entered World War II. Upon Up-on completing her mission she entered war work in England and met Mr. Hancock while he was on duty in the British Isles with the Army Signal Corps. She became engaged to Mr. Hancock Han-cock prior to his leaving England Eng-land in December, 1945. Miss Sands arrived in New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth Eliza-beth on February 28. When asked ask-ed what impressed her most about New York, she emphatically emphat-ically stated "the quantities of merchandise for sale in the stores." She compared conditions condi-tions she observed in New York with those of England, where clothing, foodstuffs and fuel are still strictly rationed. "Conditions "Condi-tions in England today," said Miss Sands, "are worse than they were at the height of the war." She attributes this condition condi-tion to the fact that Great Britain is struggling to reestablish her world trade, consequently quantities quan-tities of materials needed by the people of England are being exported. ex-ported. Miss Sands and Mr." Hancock will be married in the Salt Lake LDS temple in the immediate future. At present Miss Sands is a guest at the home of Mr. Hancock's Han-cock's mother, Mrs. Alice Hancock. |
