Show Roosevelt OftyCouncil ' Plans Early Construction of City-Wide Sewerage System Drastic Measures to be Taken to Curtail Wastage of City Water Through Leaking Taps and Excessive Lawn and Garden Sprinkling The Roosevelt city council held its regular meeting Monday I evening at the City Municipal building, where several very, important im-portant matters were discussed; one of the most important was pertaining to water. It was decided de-cided by the council to set up and make application to the Federal Fed-eral government for a post war work project grant, which would .enable the city to at least start toward the Uintah canyon for adequate water to care for the future growth of the city. Must Conserve On Water Attention was brought to the council by the city water master, that considerable water could be conserved, if proper care was taken of leaking water taps, and unrightful use of water sprinkling sprinkl-ing purposes. It has been proven through engineers surveys sur-veys that the citizens of Roosevelt Roose-velt use considerable more water per-capita than any other city in the state, and these same engineers en-gineers advise the instalation of water meters. Complete Sewerage System Within the next few days all specifications will be completed so that advertisment for bids can be made, calling for the completion com-pletion of city-wide sewerage dis posal. When this work is completed com-pleted Roosevelt will be able to boast of one of the most complete com-plete and modern sewerage disposal dis-posal systems in the entire state. Help Given To Develop Air Port At the request of the Roosevelt Roose-velt Air Port manager and CAP unit, the city fathers gave them the go ahead signal to start construction con-struction of the proposed hanger. The Unit now has almost $2,000. with the state grant to start work, and when the work is completed the Federal government govern-ment will then do their share. This is a very important project pro-ject for the development, not only of Roosevelt City, but the entire Basin, and should be liberally lib-erally supported by each and every business establishment in the city. Main Street Resurfaced The Roosevelt city fathers have been after the State Road Commission for the past six years in order to get them to resurface re-surface main street, which was never done properly, and now within the next few weeks "this work will be done. Traffic will not be closed off; however, parking park-ing will not be allowed on the side of the street while mulch is being mixed and laied. All citizens citi-zens are requested by the city council to do their part in order to expediate the work, and at the same time make it easier for the state road crew to give us a splendid job. |
