Show HOW TARIFFS ARE MADE Many American newspapers,! of all political leanings, seem to be of the opinion that the forthcoming forth-coming tariff bill will be the result, re-sult, not of statesmanship, but of log-rolling politics. This accounts for 'the miraculous miracu-lous turns-about-face made by several Senators. Senator A, representing a corn district, td!s Senator B, whose constituents are primarily interested in leather, that if B will vote for an inereas- ed tariff on' corn, A will oblige when it comes to leather. And so it goes. This is of course, good politics. But it is doubtful if it can produce pro-duce a model tariff bill. |
