Show To Be Honored m U :i v An open house will be held to honor Jean P. Thomas who is retiring as a special education educa-tion teacher. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 12, at J.A. Taylor Elementary from 4-6 p.m. MRS. THOMAS grew up in Salt Lake City, the youngest of 8 children. She was the first child in the family to go to kindergarten kin-dergarten at Webster School. She also attended Bryan Jr. High and West High School where she was president of the girls' association. She attended the U. of U. on a scholarship and did her student stu-dent teaching at the Stewart Training School. She taught for three years at Franklin Elementary School in Salt Lake City after which she left teaching to raise her family. AFTER RECERTIFYING in special education she returned to teaching in Davis County. For the past 12 years she has taught special education classes clas-ses at Tolman Elem., Stoker Elem, and J.A. Taylor Elem. She is loved and admired for her patience and sense of humor. She is married to Bishop Martin Thomas who is the manager of Utah Optical . They are the parents of five children and seven grandchildren. They also have one greatgrandchild. great-grandchild.
