'Mother of Year5 speaks to group The South Davis County American Amer-ican Mothers Study Group had a Ajpecial treat Jan. 21. Verda Mae Christensen, the 1987 Utah Mother of the Year, was the featured speaker. Mrs. Christensen told stories from her younger days as a mother and gave anecdotes and advice for mothers of all ages. The meeting was held at the home of Cheryl Powell, a long time study group member and present state treasurer for Utah American Mothers. The public will have a chance to hear Mrs. Christensen give a workshop work-shop at the annual Utah Mothers Conference on Feb. 20 held at the Tri-Arc Hotel in Salt Lake City. The affair is hosted by Utah American Amer-ican Mothers but is open to everyone. Also featured at the conference will be Dr. Raymond Guarendi, well known author of "You're A Better Parent Than You Think"; Jim Christensen, author of "Rich on Any Income"; Cecelia Benson, the 1987 Young Mother Representative; Represen-tative; Marshall Jacobsen, Barbara Mason, and Elaine Ashcroft. Any person interested in attending the conference should contact Cheryl Powell at 295-9816. The local study groups also welcome wel-come new members.
