The American Legion Au- Jjjjb' xiliary will be selling poppies 1 on Saturday, May 21 , assisted by young ladies from the three J high schools who have been J selected to attend Girls' State J; during the week of June 5-11 at s Cedar City. The poppies have ! been made by disabled veter- ans in the Veterans Hospital. J All proceeds are used to plan I programs, gifts, dinners, etc. , ,j for the veerans. li I j ALSO, ON May 21, there I ! will be a luncheon at the Ser- j 1 vus Drug honoring the Gold j Star Mothers from the area, j The officers from the Gold Star J Mothers Association of Utah will also be in attendance. The young ladies selling poppies will also attend the luncheon. Bountiful will celebrate "Poppy Day" Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mayor Dean S. Stahle kicks off the event by receiving a poppy from Lisa Calder as Holly Rowe and Dorothy Willey, president pre-sident of Bountiful American Legion Auxiliary, watch. The luncheon is under the direction of Mrs. Frankie Olson, chairman, and Mrs. Dorothy Willey, American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary president. Mrs. Merele Putnam is the Girl State chirman and has been instrumental in organizing organiz-ing this program. |
