Show work to start monday on project city plans waterworks Water works and sewer ampro improvements cements sidewalks extensions work will be started monday february 27 on waterworks water works extensions and improvements included in a project recently approved for richfield city the project provides also for sewer improve men ments ts and axtens extensions I 1 0 ns and for sidewalk extensions on a cooperative plan whereby residents such extensions are to pay for cost of materials the project is designed to provide work and improvement demands over a period of three or four years except for a few improvements p prove rove ments the amount to be spent depends entirely on citizens requesting extensions and paying for materials to cover all possible demands the project has been set at a maximum of but actual expenditure may fall farbe far below this amount the work is being by the city on a pay as you go plan waterworks Water works improvements will include laying ot of a new line on fourth north from main to sixth east to serve as a feeder line in giving better service to homes in the north and east part of town the ahne on second north street from fourth west to main will be replaced by larger pipe A new line will be laid from fourth west to the high school to serve the high school and the junior high building which is to be erected heretofore Here the high school has drawn water from the line on afif fifth th west but the change will be more adequate to needs andrial and will provide for installation of another fire hydrant disconnection of the high school from the line on fifth west should also improve conditions for residents being served from that line the plan calls also for addition of two or three other stub lines specifications have been drawn by the city engineer ellis V christensen and the council is asking for bids for furnishing pipe it is estimated the pipe will vill cost around As explained to the city council in session thursday evening by J lacrue ogden of the council committee assigned to draft the project it will include probably a mile each of sewer improvements and sidewalk extensions the sewer line in the section near the depot will be dug up cleaned repaired and it is believed bell eved the line can thus be placed in good condition without purchase of a great amount of new material residents desirous of sewer or paved sidewalk extensions should make application to the city council and labor will be furnished under the project provided the persons making such applications pay for necessary materials some applications have already been made andrew hansen dr F H low and dr R S bell came before the council thursday evening in and requested extension of the sidewalk adjacent to their homes for which purpose they will pay cost of materials assurance was given a committee from the band and orchestra mothers organization that the band stand to be erected at the city P park ark under another project will 11 be built I 1 in time for summer programs the committee was composed of mrs airs W L warner wamer and mrs J L sevy who were accompanied compa nied by the band director dallin nielson mr nielson offered some suggestions for construction the public property committee was authorized to direct the park caretaker to resume work march I 1 and various other routine matters were discussed |
