Show cac lz advises cities tuo pass VT V 0 laws suggestions given to avoid confusion of five ways to nominate the simplest way for towns and third class cities to proceed this fall in nominating municipal officers will be to provide ordinances giving the exact method of choosing them according to an opinion written saturday by attorney general joseph chez under the law as amended by the 1939 legislature it is provided that nominations may be made in a manner prescribed by ordinance through the district primary law a convention of delegates or voters a committee duly appointed by a convention or by a certificate signed by not less than 25 legal voters where an ordinance is not passed however one group of voters might proceed to nominate under the direct primary law another by the convention another by the committee method and still another by the certificate method if such should happen the attorney general said it will be readily seen that a great deal of confusion will arise and if they proceed under the direct primary act a great deal of expense will vill be incurred if ordinances are passed prescribing the manner of making nominations then in my opinion all nominations must be made in accordance with ordinance |
