Show AGREEMENT REACHED ON TERME OF 1938 SUGAR BE BEET E T CONTRACT following meetings held the last few days at the offices of the state farm bureau comes announcement that the utah state beet association and the sugar manufacturers of this state have successfully terminated negotiations over terms of the 1938 beet contract beet association representatives from all areas in the state where sugar beets are produced decided their interest would best be served by demanding a fifty fifty basis of settlement the same as used in the gunn gunnison ison sugar companas comp anys territory during 1936 and 1937 this form of contract while not readily acceptable ae by all sugar companies finally gained their approval it spec specifies idies a fifty fifty division of the net proceeds received from all sugar manufactured and molasses produced such a basis of settlement has been sought by utah beet growers for many man years but not until 1936 was it accepted in principle or otherwise the gunnison sugar company was first to meet the requirements of such a contract in 1936 and in 1937 and very readily did so for 1938 following its approval last monday byall by all sugar manufacturers of the state beet association officials as well as processors expressed belief and hope that such a favorable contract plus the government soil conservation act and sugar benefit payments will ill make the price per ton sufficiently attractive to stimulate the signing of beet acreage so that quota of sugar allotments shall be maintained and this can be done only by each factory district getting a full acreage locally soil conditions co coupled up with the favorable outlook for irrigation water makes prospects in the sanpete and sevier valleys served by the gunnison sugar company exceedingly cee bright officials of that company express the hope that 10 a cres acres of beets will vill bo be signed within the next two weeks this volume under normal gro growing wing conditions will insure a capacity run a and nd circulate hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the two counties for raw material supplies and labor say nothing about the value of the by pro ducts for stock feed |
