Show utah F T group grou F working 15 for air route 11 delegation returns to richfield wednesday from arizona trip in the interest of a proposed salt lake phoenix air route on which richfield would be a stopping point practically all civic clubs of phoenix the governor of arizona and prominent citizens were contacted the last of the week by a utah delegation comprised of J E garn utah state aeronautics director frank G martines of richfield former president and ray E carr of richfield secretary of the associated civics clubs of southern utah arizona groups were urged to contact their congressional delegation and the post office department asking that they work with the utah congressional delegation in seeking the proposed air route the delegation learned in arizona ri chiae za na mr carr stated upon his return to richfield wednesday that the T W A airlines to which t the grand canyon airline has be been en sold is working to secure a route from phoenix to the south rim of the grand canyon and then to las vegas nevada which would be unfavorable to securing a phoenix salt lake route it is believed the utah party which was detained in arizona because of storms returned by airplane to richfield at noon wednesday but left shortly for salt lake to continue their work in an effort to bring the western air express and the T W A together in some plan to advance the proposed salt lake phoenix route for the time being interested groups feel that it will be advisable to ask for stops bj between salt lake and phoenix only at richfield and the south rim of the grand canyon mr carr states the movement for the addition of the route to the national airmail system began when word was received from the post office department part ment in washington D C that miles would be added to the system |
