Show FISH SCENE OF SEVIER COU TY H H CLUB OUTING members and leaders participate in interesting program at around 11 tuesday morning twin creeks at fish lake was a scene of activity and merriment when members of 4 H clubs of sevier county assembled under direction of club leaders and lew mar price county agent for the first outing of this type the clubs have held for several years all of the clubs were girls clubs except a forestry club from monroe elbert L cox forest ranger at fish lake devoted an hour of his time to educational work for the group giving a lecture on values of the national forest as to timber grazing watershed and recreation and pointing out the necessity of protection of the range he described the rind of plants that cover the different districts on the range and identified plants in the area visited mr cox stresses the importance of cooperation on the part of the public in protecting the range and stated that visitors in the forest should observe the regulations and build fires only I 1 in designated places he urged the need of using the same place for fires and keeping the camp ground clean as danger of constantly moving to new ground lies not only in the danger of starting forest fires but the practice depletes the range and because not only the grass is burned but the organic matter in the soil also is destroyed so new crops of grass do not grow readily mr cox also took the group on a tour of the new forestry buildings including the rangers residence following a lunch hour joe buys and miss floy hansen recreation directors conducted recreational reat ional events for an hour and a half in the ball room of aarde tavern immediately following which the clubs gave a program each community being represented with a reading musical number or dance and a stunt the stunts were original and afforded a riot of fun the outlined program was completed by p m just five minutes later than the scheduled time some of the clubs remained at the lake for a day or two the clubs represented part of them with all members and leaders were from sevier joseph el s dinoro n ore monroe vence sigurd and koosharem Koo sharem mr air price was highly appreciative of the cooperation given leaders and the responsibility they assumed in making the outing a success as well as for the work of the forest officials and the rec recreation r ca directors the courtesy extended by mr and last but not least of clifford mcshane first aid assistant from the who was on hand to assure safet safety y for the group although fortunately no as istance was needed the clubs hope to make the outing an annual event |
