Show GLENWOOD 1 MRS AMS GEO rickenbach correspondent I 1 0 0 funeral held for lavar K H powell impressive funeral services for lavar K powell who died suddenly november 13 while at work on the road between glenwood and the fish hatchery were held friday after afternoon moon in the ward chapel with bishop J elmer sorensen presiding speakers were president T R gledhill of richfield patriarch ff H bell J H payne albert and willard of venice who referred to mr powells powe als nobility of character and to his varied services in the church and community one of mr powells favorite poems my name was read by mrs lucy bell original sentiments by mrs georgia T powell were read by mrs R E bell as was aso a paper composed by mrs bell for the bishopric in appreciation of his services and association resolutions of respect from the boy scouts were read by lynn resolutions of respect from the relief society were read by mrs H G sorensen musical numbers were a solo and chorus 1 I know that my redeemer lives by D N and nd the choir though deepening trials by the choir lead kindly light a duct by misses virginia rickenbach and fontell peterson a solo my task by mrs sylvia stroble and a quartet oh ob my father by mr air and mrs D N of elsinore mrs sylvia stroble and albert miss wanda was accompanist the opening prayer was by president E W poulson the closing prayer by christian peterson of richfield the many floral offerings were carried by the boy scouts and their leaders pallbearers Pall bearers were brothers and brothers in law interment was in the glenwood cemetery where the grave was wag dedicated by bishop J elmer sorensen lavar K X powell was born june 27 1901 at glenwood a son of C W powell sr and rosina buchanan powell he had always resided at glenwood engaging in farming at the time of his death he was a member of the ward bishopric which position he had held five years he was also scout commissioner and was serving his second term on the town board on march 10 1920 he married miss lucille sampson surviving are his widow two sons ray and 1 glen powell three daughters I 1 darth naomi and luana powell his father C W powell sr and four brothers C W powell jr george powell and clifford powell of richfield and junius F powell of glenwood all of the family were present at the services as were also relatives from annabella venice sigurd and richfield floyd nielson who has been employed in montana the past year returned home last week because of the serious illness of his infant son born november 11 the baby pas passed d away before the fathers arrival and funeral services were held thursday afternoon in the relief society hall interment was in the glenwood cemetery mr air and mrs henry peterson and mrs A anderson of ephraim visited at the home of 0 P anderson friday afternoon betty jean hellesen entertained a number of little friends at her home saturday evening the occasion being her alth birthday mrs thys winkel and son val of manti spent the weekend with mr and mrs J W peterson C 13 hendrickson was a salt lake visitor the fore part of the week the schedule of the adult education classes in charge of mrs R E bell has been changed classes in U S history english and arithmetic will be held thursday and friday nights from to 10 classes in current affairs and needlecraft need lecraft will beheld be held saturday afternoons from 2 to N W is home for a short visit after having been away the past few months mrs andrew is at monroe where she was called because of the illness of her son in law lawand and daughter mr and mrs heber winget ft |
