| Show CAUTIONED TO EMISE rj ON three highest candidates fo for r 2 year councilman will be elected voters in the general election to be hold held next tuesday november 7 are cautioned to exercise extreme care in the marking of their ballots owing to the confusion that exists regarding the grobi prohibition issues there will be three ballots handed to all voters one relating to the matter of repealing the federal or eighteenth amendment to the constitution one relating to amending the utah state constitution ution as regards prohibition and also in the matter of amending the state constitution as it affects the minimum wages of women and children and the general welfare of any and all employees the third ballot lists the candidates nominated for municipal offices the first mentioned ballot contains two lists of delegates to the convention to be called to decide whether or not utah will adopt or reject the proposed amendment to the constitution of the united states A cross placed in the circle at the top of the column headed for ratification means that the voter goes on record in favor of repealing the eighteenth amendment which would do away with national prohibition A cross in the circle at the head of the column of delegates headed against repeal means that the voter goes on record against the repeal of national prohibition of course it will be possible for a voter to vote for some of the delegates in each column but that is a very unlikely situation as the delegates are pledged either to vote for or against repeal the second ballot mentioned above submits two state issues to the voters one asks the voter to express his decision as to whether article 16 of the utah constitution shall be amended by adding thereto a section relating to wages of women minors and general welfare of all employees A cross in the square under the heading yes means a vote in favor of adopting this amendment A cross under the square headed by the word no means a vote against this amendment on this same ballot is another proposed amendment to the state constitution which affords the voter an opportunity to express himself on the question of amending article 22 of the same constitution by repealing section 3 thereof relating to the prohibition and re regulation of the sale manufacture use advertisement of possession of and traffic in ing liquors to vote for this proposed amendment that is in favor of repealing the utah state dry law the voter should put his mark in the square marked yes to vote against repealing liquor laws and thus keep the state dry the voter should put a cross in the square under the word no in the city election appears two lists of candidates one designated as the citizens party and the other the independent party A 4 cross in the circle at the tha head of 0 each ticket means a vote for the entire party but voters are privileged to scratch their ballot that is place a cross crom in the aqua squa square before any name they choose the candidate for mayor and 4 year councilman are opposite each other and the voter must vote for but one of each party there are three candidates on each ticket for 2 year councilman and the voter may select any three that he prefers these names are placed in alphabetical order by surnames but just because a candidates name happens to be opposite a certain name on the other ticket that does not mean that the voter has to choose between those two he may vote for any three of the six candidates for 2 year councilman and the having the high highest C st number of votes from both tickets will be elected also the voter must choose between the candidates on each ticket for the position of city treasurer the same candidate for recorder appears on both tickets and hence is assured of election A blank bl k space is left lef t at the right of the ballot so that a voter may write in the name of a candidate if he does not favor those nominated |
