| Show abby GETS TO PUY ff juvenile musicians to have en engagement k age for week the richfield baby orchestra wh which I 1 c hhas has already won enviable local distinction through the concerts given here has been given state recognition through a contract last week to their instructor J G hilgendorff accepting this group of some 30 juvenile musicians for a weeks en engagement argement to play on the stage of the orpheum theatre in salt lake these babies their mothers and mr air and mrs hilgendorff will leave for the state capital next wednesday november 8 11 and will give their first performance at the orpheum on thursday afternoon november 9 they will appear P ear three times each day for a week except on saturday and sunday when they will give four performances each day the cheatie is already advertising this special feature which is very different from the usual run of vaudeville numbers that appear on the vaudeville stage and there has been nothing in recent years which has brought as much favorable publicity to richfield and sevier county as will be done by this clever group of youngsters whom mr air and mrs hilgendorff have carefully and patiently trained for nearly a year now while the Orph orpheum eurn contract provides for the payment of a substantial sum for the services of this baby orchestra still it is not sufficient to cover the heavy expense that will be incurred through keeping the 30 members and their mothers in salt lake for a week the richfield public is being given an opportunity to help in the financing of this worthy project and a committee composed of mrs helen poulson mrs mae sevy and mrs mary alary erickson has been appointed to raise the necessary additional funds several business firms have already pledged financial assistance and now nov individuals who appreciate this rare opportunity for this city and county to make a showing in salt lake city are to be given a chance to do their part any individual who wishes to help may give or send f funds to any of the above committee mayor W L warner wamer wrote the following letter for the use of the committee in soliciting funds and authorizes the reaper to publish it for the general public information and through these columns urges every public spirited citizen to lend all possible moral and financial assistance to make this community undertaking a big success this is to certify that I 1 do wholeheartedly recommend the sending of our richfield baby orchestra to salt lake city C ty to appear for one week at the orpheum theatre and ask that business firms and individuals give as liberally as their means will permit to help pay the expenses of this trip which will mean so much both to the members of this orchestra and also to the community as a whole very respectfully W L WARNER mayor the various mothers of the orchestra members have been organized into committees to arrange for transportation housing feeding costumes banners and the like and are all working strenuously to have everything in readiness for this momentous event every effort will be made to care for the childrens health and safety and arrangements arrangement have been made with the school authorities to have those members of school age excused for the week mr hilgendorff has been working for several months to get this contract with the Orph orpheum eurn and deserves great appreciation for the success he has achieved rulin dunn assistant manager of the orpheum came down recently especially to hear the baby orchestra concert and praised the performance for mance in the highest terms |
