| Show 0 CUFF HEA S LOCAL P A FO H THE ENSUING jhb YEA r a music is theme of pleasing pro program ram at associations first meeting W 0 cluff was elected president of the richfield parents teachers association at the meeting 0 of f the association held thursday evening in the high school auditorium with the retiring president john L sevy in charge assisting officers elected are vice president dr 11 markus secretary mrs hanmer peterson representative from the high school paul G packard representative from the grade school miss lenore thompson representatives of the four wards mrs C P hansen bansen first ward mrs airs joseph L asbury second ward dr J 0 third ward mrs W B pace fourth ward the election followed a most delightful program designed to stimulate interest in music it included talks on the value of music in the community by mayor W L warner on music in the junior high school by B B burmester Bur 0 on n the value of music in the high school by bi A 11 Al maughan aughan and a talk by superintendent A J ashman in which he further enlarged on the need and importance of music in the schools not only in the larger communities but in the smaller schools of the district exemplifying what the schools are trying to accomplish in music AL L done music instructor of the R H S had assembled the lar largest est girls glee club ever organized izea here and under his direction the girls delighted tho the audience with two numbers A junior high band d under direction of mr done also entertained the parents the band played surprisingly well considering si the fact that with the exception of some violin students of mr hilgendorff most of the students had had little or no training on their instruments prior to the opening of the present school term two artistic features on the musical program were saxophone solos by marlell L christensen accompanied by mrs christensen at the piano and a string trio by J G hilgendorff violin M L done cello and mrs hilgendorff piano |
