| Show COMMUNITY stimulation tile the race meet and rodeo which was held the last three days of the past week was a credit to sevier county as a whole and to the richfield lions club in particular which organization planned sponsored and carried through this commendable project times may be hard here but they are no worse than in many other communities where fairs race meets and such affairs aie being held this year As one individual expressed it we may be bady badly crippled but we are not at dead and lets show them that we are not going to die without a brave struggle such an event brings much favorable advertising to this community which will carry on in the years vears to come people came here from all over the state and many tourists remained over for at least one of the three days and they are going away with the thought that this is a wideawake wide awake community they were well entertained and the community itself was stimulated to believing that things can really be accomplished here in adverse circumstances the county commissioners sincerely felt that they were not not justified in spending the peoples money to put on the annual fair but the richfield lions came to the rescue with the plan for a three day race meet the really progressive merchants backed up the idea with a cash guarantee fund and even though it is probable that they will have to make up the deficit with a slight part of this guarantee they all feel that the race meet was well worth what it cost and brought a great deal of business here as well as peeped pepped up the people as a whole asbole there are of course a few chronic knockers who say that a civic club ruch as the lions do not accomplish any real good to the community but we doubt if their record of achievement would show that they are doing anything to promote the best interests of the community in which they live A news article appears on another page of this issue of the reaper which cites the various projects undertaken by the local lions club during the past year and we submit it to you for your decision as to whether or not this club is doing anything |
