Show OF B P W CLUB VISITS six clubs of district guests at enthusiastic gatherings on occasion A general feeling of fellowship characterized the functions arranged by the richfield B P IV club in honor of the state president mrs mabel H fry of ogden who paid an official visit to the club satur r day and sunday mrs fry was accompanied compa nied by the president of the ogden club who with her attended the national convention last year and is one of the prominent members of the state organization the charming personality and intellectuality of the president found expression in her splendid discourse on my aly philosophy of life given at the banquet held saturday evening again at the gathering sunday morning she spoke of the B P W club not only from its possibilities for community service but from the standpoint of the friendly associations and recreation it affords the girl whose time is largely employed in business and professional fess ional fields of endeavor the coming state convention and the national convention were discussed briefly mrs airs fry was welcomed to richfield saturday afternoon and in her honor a tea was arranged between the hours of four and six at the attractive home of the richfield B P IV club president mrs myrtle F lewis A fine italian cut work cloth covered the tea table which was centered with blue delphinium and white columbia roses artistically arranged in a large silver basket carrying out the club colors at each end silver candelabra held tall lighted blue tapers mrs airs eleanor and mrs airs leona morrison poured in the receiving line were the dub club officers mrs myrtle F lewis mrs airs olena mrs ora harmston miss bliss nial nelson miss alta thurber and mrs airs maud childs A musical program was in order during tl f feon enon e non each club member attending the tea invited a guest the club extended special invitations to the richfield study club officers the officers of the club of sar lina the officers officer s of the club of monroe and the B P W clubs of the district sixty sixta guests 3 called at the club entertained at a banquet in the johnston hotel clubs from mt pleasant raim nephi gunnison and salina were represented mrs airs carrie payne president pies ident of the richfield study club aub was a guest also president myrtle F lewis presided and introduced miss aliss nial nelson as toastmaster introductory to the friendly spirit of the evening miss nelson requested all participants to place about their necks the lais the hawaiian symbol of friendship which were presented the guests as favors in keeping with the favors the tables were cleverly decorated with motifs representative I 1 of hawaiian scenes miss bliss ruth cloward Cl ovard of venice dressed in hawaiian costume sang with ukulele accompaniment a song in native tongue mrs helen poulson lead in club songs accompanied at the piano by mrs airs evelyn bradley president myrtle F lewis welcomed the visiting ladies and mrs airs poulson then delighted the assemblage with two vocal solos toasts were responded to by members of the visiting clubs mrs airs alta erickson of price and mrs airs rawson of ogden gave brief talks and then followed the greetings of the state president in token of appreciation the local club presented mrs fry a beautiful corsage bouquet mrs ora harmston made the presentation speech club songs which were generously interspersed during the program concluded the evening fifty two ladies attended the banquet A breakfast was held at 1030 sunday 1 morning at the ray hotel which was attended by the state president the ogden club president mrs airs erick son on of the price club several members from nephi and ephraim and local members apple blossoms decorated the tables and place cards in bluebird design added to the spring atmosphere covers were laid for twenty eight mrs airs oro J harmston the newley elected president of the club acted as toastmaster eleanor koch sang three numbers miss aliss ina lloyd accompanied at the piano by miss melba lloyd gave clever musical readings miss aliss nial nelson was as mrs fry put it too real in three humorous readings and brief remarks were made by president myrtle F lewis the nephi president the ogden president and an address by the state president |
