Show museum exploring wayne wonderland Ron derland the peabody museum of the harvard university has become interested in tho the ruins of ancient cliff dwellings in wayne wonderland eiland and other sections of southern sout blem utah and has pre paled to do research work in this locality ca lity through a period of four or five years the money for this purpose was generously appropriated by a I 1 mr cl claflin ablin and a mr Ern emmerson merson of boston whose enthusiasm was aroused when they visited wayne wonderland last year the first research work will commence this summer and for this reason noel morse adf robert sanderson represent izig the museum and harry bartol of new york who became int creed in the ruins of southern utah when he was here for a vacation last summer accompanied compa nied by will rust of V T park as guide left richfield saturday night for escalante Eg calante from there to make the journey agn on saddle horses and with pack animals to the ruins scattered between escalante and fremont they will vill explore the canyons near fruita and torrey and expect to do some soine digging at a sight of an old pueblo near boulder they hope to find remains mains not only of the cliff dwellers but of the basket makers a race which I 1 preceded the cliff dwellers and plied their art before pottery was invented |
