| Show BOYS of HOME FROM vp C 9 i 9 1 T FINE officers I 1 and men report an arduous but very enjoyable encampment the passenger train of monday afternoon brou brought ht home the officers and men of B battery p E of the and 2nd field artillery regiment from the two weeks encampment held at the jordan narrows under command of colonel hamilton gardner assisted by lieutenant colonel J ray ward despite a variety of weather conditi conditions condition om which emch were not favorable officers and enlisted men took hold of the work like veterans which many of them are and acquitted themselves in a marner to win the praise of all regular army officers who were on hand as instructors and inspectors among them captain J deweese who makes richfield his regular headquarters the richfield battery was under command of captain henry E beal first lieutenants L R fournier and ferdinand erickson and second lieutenants J clifford nelson and J R barker first sergeant R C luth is the ranking raming commissioned noncommissioned non officer the camp was held to be the smoothest running on record and the regiment of which the richfield cyst tery is a component part wa was commended for its efforts during the fifteen days of drill and training features of interest to officers f and men entered into the p life also among them a acon test for which six small silve aws cup cups were offered as prizes and it r chross an interesting sidelight on the pugilistic abilities of our boys that three of these six cups were captured by richfield to wit ross sly E eldon idon peterson and boyd the camp closed as usual with a practice march undertaken saturday with saratoga springs as objective at this resort a general good ti time me was had including a dance which was enjoyed in spite of the fact that not enough wives and sweethearts were at hand to keep all the boys dancing the regiment returned from fram the practice march to the camp in jordan narrows sunday morning and spent the day in cleaning up and pack pac L ng n for fo r the departure for home captain beat beal having gone rome home sunday the trip to richfield monday morning was under command of lieutenant L R fournier all the boys returned home in the best of health and glad of the experience they had at camp |
