| Show M I 1 WOOK IN THIS farrell P smith will act as instructor truc tor and is now organizing work for term the beard of education of sever school district having decided to introduce sinith hughes work in our high school farrell P sn smith ath was added to zhe che faculty of the Richi ieli high hig h school and was called to our city to start work last monday mr smith will be at the high school every day this week to receive registrations arld and talk over plans for the work with the prospective students the sn smith ath hughes hughea work was started by an act of congress in 1917 and provides instruction along three lines of home economics to wit trades industries and agriculture the agricultural ri phase will be the one to be taken care of in our high school expenses of the instruction are met on a 50 50 basis by the local school boards and the federal government in order to meet the requirements for federal aid the school must first of all equip its building to use a double period of ninety minutes to be divided into forty five minutes for class instruction and forty five minutes for practical work and supervision the work ork for this term will be outlined for two years the first year to be devoted to crops and the second to animal husbandry next net year another course will be added to include farm farin management the following year rural economics economic will be b introduced which then will vill constitute a full fout four years course sir mr smith announces that he will accept for instruction in the smith hughes work not only high school students but any boys of the oges ages irom fourteen tour teen to twenty one years boys will be instructed in any agricultural line according to their own particular wishes and requirements and the several projects will be handled with a view to the financial side making the boys responsible so far as possible possible for the success of their respective projects project the theoretical instruction will be given during the winter months so actual work can start spring and can be supervised during the rowing growing season next su summer nuner special attention is called to the fact that the smith sinith hughes hughea work nork does not in any way conflict with the boys club work which will continue under tinder the supervision of county agent S E R boswell but mr smith will cooperate and continue the work done by the younger boys |
