Show 0 0 I 1 AURORA I 1 I 1 by special correspondent I 1 oo first accident victim at clay plant frank nelson who for the past four months lias has been employed by the western clay and metals co at the local plant of the company met with a very painful and serious accident about sunday evening mr nelson has been working night shift on the plant and was in the act of greasing the cog wheels of one of the large machines ne he was using 1 str strap ap ilon about nine inches in length with a hook on one end As lie he attempted to grease one of the sm smaller aller wheels lie he put the grease on the under side of the wheel where the cogs came together the end of the iron became entangled in the cogs and the hooked end of the ilon caught in the glove drawing his hand into the wheels mr nelson was taken to the salina hospital and on monday underwent an operation on the injured hand it was found necessary essaiy to take the thumb first thud and fourth fingers off at the second joint and to lebove the second finger crit critchely hely mr nelson is reported to be resting easily at this writing the unfortunate accident will handicap mr nelson considerably sider ably as it is the right hand but the officials of the company assure him a job on the plant as long as he wishes it 41 M 1 I A ball team wins two games the ward 11 1 I A basketball team was successful in walking off with two scalps last week on tuesday evening they played the second ward team of salina at salina and won SO 80 to 12 on thursday they played the siguid team at the city hall and ended the contest with a 45 46 20 win in both of the games game the aurora boys displayed excellent field and team w work 0 rk new city council busy on monday of this week the new city council inspected the pipe line for the city water and decided decide to do immediate on tile the job for some time past the town has had trouble with the line and it is hoped that this in investigation vesti gation will lead to an improvement local and perso personal a mr and mrs john stewart spent the latter days of the week visiting with relatives in loa they returned to their home here on saturday mis avery curtis was taken to the salina hospital wednesday of last wee nee where she was operated on for appendicitis mrs curtis stood the operation fine and at the writing is well on the way to re covely george everett of springville Spring ville is spending a few days clays hele with his daughter mrs jane mason mr and mis wilford nielson of salina spent sunday in our city calling ng in in iela relatives tives mrs myrtle curtis and children who bace been visiting relatives here for the past ten days returned to their home in salt lake city on sunday the former city council met with the officers elect at 2 thursday at the home of former mayor edwin sorensen to report and turn over the affairs of the city to the new officials everything was handled in a highly satisfactory manner and the new council is now in full charge of the affairs of the city mr air and mrs alma crowther Crowth cr and mrs jane durfee who for the past ten days have been visiting with relatives in logan and salt lake returned to their home here thursday they report having had a very enjoyable trip mr air and mrs sharland harward and family of vermilion who have been visiting with relatives here for the past wees returned to their home monday A goodly esen tation of our ward attended all sessions of the quarterly conference held in redmond saturday and sunday it is reported as one of the best and most largely attended conferences ever held in this stake mr and mrs edwin and mr and mis dewey mason motored to sunday evening where they were nvere very delightfully entertained by b y mr air and mrs airs D M anderson of that city cards chatting and dainty refreshments fresh ments the diversions mr and mrs harvey halward and children wele glenwood visitors on wednesday and thursday last week miss dorothy taylor of loa ca called I 1 led heie icie en route to salt lake city and spent saturday with her uncle heber taylor of this place the daughters of pioneers held beld their regular meeting at the home of mrs violate ivie ivic wednesday such business matters as came up were disposed of and a ver very y interesting program was given mrs annie anderson of salina a fornier former officer in the organization heie was present at the meeting tom taylor spent thursday and friday of last calling on relatives in loa mrs ida robins and son blaik of scipio were visitors at the home of W L thompson sunday |
