Show ABE HIM HANSEN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF RIFLE C CLUB association preparing for great activity tivit during coming outdoor season A meeting of several charter members of the richfield rifle club was held last wednesday afternoon for the purpose of 0 f reorganizing tor for the year 1923 the election of officers and the transaction ot other business of the club after considerable discussion on the part of the members the election of officers resulted in the selection of abe hansen president cyrus mcmillan vice president norman andreason executive officer W L warner treasurer B C luth secretary harold scorekeeper and assistant executive officer the next matter of business before the club was the consideration or of applications tor for membership received from several persons desirous of joining the ranks of the riflemen the sentiment of those present was in favor of their admittance to the club and Secre atry luth was instructed to notify these persons that their applications had been accepted d ft it was further decided that an effort be made by all members to interest more men in the sport the secretary was wag als also 0 inspru instructed iz to dring bring this fact to the attention ot of everyone through these pages he was further instructed to bring out the tact fact that this is a sport well within the reach of everyone the initiation fee ani amounts to only five dollars and the annual membership is iery ery reasonable rifles and appendages pen dages daies are issued to the club by the war department free of charge an annual allowance of ammunition is also made ech year by the war de without cost to the club the allowance of ammunition dorthis for this year is slightly over twelve thousand rounds roughly speaking the annual issue of supplies made to the local rifle club by the war department is valued at about possibly in reading the above the question comes to mind what benefits would I 1 derive from membership in the richfield rifle club it is easy to point them out as follows for t the he individual rifleman an active part in the doings of this organization means great returns by reason of all the good derived from active exercise out of doors the opportunity port unity to prepare himself for the fall duck shooting that trip in the hills for a buck etc through the use of government equipment at practically no cost to him and the opportunity of purchasing from the war department at it greatly prices rifles of all kinds and his favorite brand of ammunition for either rifle pistol or shotgun a chance to win a war department decoration design designating his ability as a rifleman to quality qualify as a marksman sharpshooter or expert epert Rifle rifleman ninn as an active shooter of a certain known degree the privilege of competing against all the riflemen of tins his country in the la isa dional rifle association matches to have a gold silver or bronze menal in any N R A open competition sets him apart in whatever gathering of riflemen lie he may be as a man who warrants respect the entering of competition against the various rifle clubs of the state from time to time thorough out the year which will show just how each individual compares with the balance of the riflemen of the state a chance to attend the state shoot each summer and compete for the state championship against all comers last year the sant state e championship was lost to richfield by but six points out of a possible a chance to attend the national rifle matches at camp perry ohio next fall and meet in open competition not only the riflemen ot rathe the united states state s but also the be best s t shots produced by switzerland france england italy and several other european countries an actual increase in shooting ability and increased confidence in himself as a result of firing under match conditions last but not least individuals divi duals and clubs by adding to the he number of riflemen engaged in firing officially recognized matches add to the warning to legislatures not to interfere with the citizens right to practice with rifle or pistol in n defense of his home or with his shotgun rifle or pistol in pursuit of game regular shoots on oil the outdoor range will be held each sunday morning that the weather will permit persons desirous of joining the local rifle club should get in touch with some one of the newly elected officers the officers expect an interesting and exciting summers work for all members of the club for the benefit of newer members I 1 ort of school of fire will be conducted under the management of he file older members of the club hero here all matters pertaining to the shooting game will be taken up and those availing themselves of the opportunity will bo be able to profit by the experience peri ence of the older men in the game |
