boost all parts of utah dr hopkins recently visited richfield and fish lake and at his own expense logged the road and has given fish lake a splendid boost leaving fish lake lie he proceeded to bryce canyon to log the road through grass valley to otter creek thence through coyote and other towns to the famous scenic canyon ile he is accompanied on this trip by mrs hopkins and both aie enjoying the mountains As tor for utah it has a few mountain mounta in i retreats for the denizens of the city to hie away to during the warm months but according to those who have made a habit of visiting fish lake that community is destined to become by far the most popular summer colony in the state and bids fair to establish a reputation all through the intermountain country as an ideal spot to enjoy the hot season of the year those who make this prediction base their arguments on the fact that fish lake is endowed with all the natural advantages which a community could desiro desire in it this his highway is hard of surface and contains no steep grades it is delightful from tho the point of view of the motorist and is declared to be the best mountain road in the state tho the drive to the lake is replete with pretty scenery as the road winds and twists around among valleys nestled in the mountains or along rushing mountain creeks with their peculiar appeal to the urban dweller As for the lake itself it is feet above sea level and contain fresh pure and cold water from mountain springs the water is always too cold for bathing purposes the forest service lis hs divided the land contemplation the western side of the lake is all taken up tip some of the homes costing as much as dut but on the eastern side the forest service is building a road which will make this territory available to people wishing to build there at present theio are two attractive resorts on the shores of the lake where boats cau can be obtained for fishing the only successful way to land the united states hatcheries one of the sights in the early spring is to watch the huge trout come into the shore to spawn during the winter months the body of water is covered with a thick sheet of ico ice and the weather is rather severe causing a late spring but when the baim weather does come it comes with a rush and the ico ice melts quickly visitors luring during the early spring find the weather a trifle too cold tor for comfort and blankets ire are needed at night all summer at present it is very common for motorists to leave salt lake in it the morning and arrive at the lake that richfield road is GI 61 miles 00 richfield go north on oil main street turn to the right at arrow service station 10 railroad go straight 30 cross river 50 turn to right with poles 57 glenwood turn to loft left at the store go up grade 66 keep to the left 89 up dugway 94 fine view of valley junction with sigurd road wind around low hills from here occasional cas ional views of distant snow capped highway winding around and climbing up with beautiful views on the right of grass valley below and mountain plateaus in tho the dia distance tance summit forks to the right for loa eight miles take the left road tor for fish lake through a sagebrush country with white poplars in the near distance passing through a forest of beautiful white poplars then the first view of fish lake is available hatcheries on twin creeks then on to a more open country where campers may rest from twin creeks to bowery creek is one and one half hal miles three and one half miles farther is jorgensen creek and
