Show i i MORONI i By Special Correspondence Miss Eva Barrett entertained the Bridge Club Friday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. James Fescher. Refreshments were served to the folowing members: The Misses Camille Olsen, Sadie Little, Vivian Viv-ian Anderson, Sarah Kellet, Gwen Blackham, Ina Fescher, and Mrs. Virginia Ingram, Mrs. Leonard Anderson, Mrs. Jeston Nelson, Mrs John Anderson, Mrs. Frank Bruno and the hostess. Four tables of bridge were played play-ed and Mrs. John Anderson won high score prize and Miss Sarah Kellett won consolation prize. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Blackham of McGill, Nevada are the proud parents of a baby boy. They are former residents of this city. Tho Daughters of the Pioneers held their monthly meeting Friday Fri-day afternoon. President Eliza Bradley presided. Mrs. Hannah Cloward was in charge of the following fol-lowing program: singing, "Utah The Queen of the West;" prayer, Mrs. Amy Hardy Chaplin;, vocal duet, Katheleen and Mary Syme; poem, Paul Christensen; song, Florence and Ruth Christensen; reading, Ada Morley; trio, Tlene Bailey, Edna and Elaine Taylor; reading, Mrs. Margaret Christensen; Christen-sen; two accordian selections, Mrs Hannah Cloward; a biographical sketch of the life of Nelse Christensen Chris-tensen Sr. was given by his granddaughter, grand-daughter, Mrs. Hannah Cloward, singing, "In Our Lovely Desert;" prayer, Chaplin. Forty-six ladies were present. Mrs. John R. Blackham made a business trip to Salt Lake City last week Mrs. Ernest Blackham and Mrs. John R. Blackham were hostesses entertaining the Sorosos club Thursday afternoon at the home of the later. A reading, "What is Christmas" was given by Mrs. Ray Anderson. The club sang three Christmas caruols led by Mrs. Ophelia Rhodes. Mrs. Elmo Irons sang a solo. Plans were made for the Christmaas program. Those present were: Mrs. Roy Storey, Mrs. Ellis Draper, Mrs. Ophelia Rhodes, Mrs. Leo Morley, Mrs Russel Bailey, Mrs. Ray Anderson, An-derson, Mrs. Ralph Prestwitch, Mrs. Morgan Lamb, Mrs. Blain Draper, Mrs. Cleon Anderson, Mrs. Marvin Anderson, Mrs. Elmo Irons, Mrs. Mert Draper, Mrs. Eugene Despain and the hostess. Mrs. Jeff Ballif was a special guest. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bruno of Helper were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Bruno last week end. Clive Hansen and Dallon Peterson Peter-son have returned home from Shnook, Canada where they were employed in a sugar factory. Each ward took part and it proved to be a big success. Mr. and Mrs. Urvn Gee announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter, Nellie, to Mr. Clarence Oakie of Nephi. A shower and wedding reception recep-tion was given in their honor at the home ol ur. ana Mrs. n. Dice Wednesday evening, December Decem-ber 9. One hundred and fifty guests were present. The young couple received many beautiful and useful gifts. Mrs. Oakie has been employed at the Dice Hospital for the past two years. Mrs. Sena Curtis has received word of the birth of a granddaughter grand-daughter born in Salt Lake City to Mr. and Mrs. Tinman Curtis. Mr. and Mrs. William Nunley announce the birth of a baby boy at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Stringham were visiting relatives in Salt Lake City last week. Mrs. Amanda Matilda Jorgen- scn Draper passed away at her home Monday afternoon after a lingering illness. She was born in Moroni' February 26, 1864. She married Parley J. Draper in November 1882. Eleven children were born to them. She has always al-ways been an active church worker. work-er. For many years she has been a Relief Society teacher and at the time of her death she was a Relief Society teacher and also chairman if the work committee. Besides her husband she is survived sur-vived by the following children: Parley J. Jr., John Muriel, Buhl and Mrs. James M. Larsen of Moroni Mo-roni Mrs. Pratt N. Peterson of Epliraim and Mrs. Arthur W. Boy-ack Boy-ack of Spanish Fork; sixteen grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: James M. Larsen of Buhl, Idaho. Mrs. Jo-hannah Jo-hannah Jacobson of Provo; Lawrence Law-rence H. Larsen and Mrs. Scott. Bruno of Moroni. |
