Show He Painted a Picture By Jessie Sundwall Dedicated to the Artist JOHN H. STANSFIELD He painted a picture A wonderful thing, With green trees and meadows And flowers of Spring. It's all just alive With a feeling ycu know, Like after a shower When things start to grow. He painted a picture Of Summer so tweet, Where out in the brook . I can paddle my feet, Ai.d watch the lambs frolic In sunlight and shade. It's just like our meadows, The one that he made. He painted a picture Of Autumn all bright, With hills full of color, And skies full of light. On a pond there are geese That I just want to feed, And all while I'm looking, It's Autumn I need. He painted a picture Of Winters' delight, The moon looking down On a world bluish white, A house snug and cosy, Way back in the trees, A stream half-way crusted; It just makes me freeze. He puts on a canvas The things which I see, There's life in the earth, And the sky, and the tree. Oft times when Im lonesome I look on the wall. And bring back the seasons, Each one best of all. |
