Show f 3utworm Outbreak Threatens Crops In Sanpete County A recent outbreak of cut worms in the dry land crops at Hill Top, nine miles north of Fairview and in the upper up-per lands to the west of town has created considerable anxiety among the farmers of that vicinity. The County Agent was made acquainted with this problem several days ago and it looked so serious that help from the College at Logan was applied ap-plied for. Accordingly, Dr. H. J. Pack, experiment station entimologist, met at Fairview yesterday with Mr. Stott and a group of interested farmers farm-ers and made a thorough investigation Of the situation. Conditions prevailed there somewhat differently than Dr. Pack had ever encountered before. The problem will require some research and so Dr. Pack gathered a large number of the waciis which he will observe in captivity cap-tivity at the College, and when they have developed into moth stage he will return 9 the fields at Fairview and conduct research investigations on the life habits f.f this particular insect, in-sect, in order to advise proper and adequate control methods. "In the meantime," Dr Pack advised, advis-ed, "poison the infeeM-d areas with arsenic bran mash." |
