Show 1 F'C - v 1 ' - j ALBSRT.US WILLARDSON Utah Pouitryman Chosen to Head National Board Albertus Willardson, for years assistant general manager of the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative Association and one of its organizers, organiz-ers, has been selected chief of tn poultry products' section of the Federal Farm Board with jurisdiction jurisdic-tion over the entire United States The appointment becomes effective effec-tive September 16, according to th information received recently from Washington, u. u Since his new work with tha federal board will require all his time, Mr. Willardson will resign his post with the poultry association on September 15. No decision has yet been made as to whether or not a successor will be chosen m the poultry association set-up o-whether o-whether the office of assistant general gen-eral manager will be abandoned. Mr. WUlardson's title will be marketing mar-keting specialist 'for the Federal Farm Board and as such he will have direct charge of all ihe board's activities witn poultry and poultry products. The work of his department will be directed towards to-wards the perfection of existing poultry cooperative marketing associations asso-ciations and the establishment of others were feasible and necessary. Though ins permanent headquar-ters headquar-ters will be in Washington, D. C, Mr. Willardson hopes to maintain at least temporary offices in Salt Lake, since so much of his work m the immediate future will be iu Utah and the other western states. About the first job he expects to tackle is the perfection of the Northwest Turkey Growers' Association, Associ-ation, which was tentatively organized organ-ized several months ago to scientifically scien-tifically market as one unit the turkey crops of ten western states including Utah. He will aba contact con-tact the different cooperative associations asso-ciations on the Pacific Coast before leaving lor Washington. Coming as it did, Mr. Willardson s appointment to this high federal pest is recogniika as a merited re ward ror his splendid service to organizes agriculture and a tribute trib-ute to the Utah organization which he helped founa. The selection was maae after several representa-tivs representa-tivs of Hie Federal Farm Board had spent months studying the setup set-up and operaton of the Utah Poultry Poul-try Producers Cooperatve Association Associa-tion and were so favorably impressed impres-sed that they decided to use this organization as a model for the proposed establishment of others. It was during this investigation that the federal authorities became famil iar with Mr. Willardson and the prominent role he played in the development of the Utah association. associa-tion. Mr. Willardson is a native of Ephralm, Tjtan. Prior to 1920 much of his time was spent at May-field May-field where he was prominent as a successful farmer and . livestock Livestock marketing was his specialty spec-ialty at this time. Shortly after 1920 he moved to Gunnison, Utah, where he resided until 1922. It was then that Mr. Willardson, Clde C. Edmonds, and Benjamin Brown organized the Utah poultry association, which now enjoys the membership of over six thousand poultry producers and which has developed into one of Utah's basic industries, doing a business in 1929 amounting to over ov-er nine million dollars, and whicn is bringing into the state of Utah thousands of dollars of new money from outside territories.
