Show New Styles in Wives "Styles in wives are changing! ' This somewhat startling announce ment is made by the household research re-search bureau maintained by the makers of Spinner washers in Peoria, Pe-oria, Illinois, which declares that the successful housewife of ten or twelve years ago would be a failure fail-ure if she were transferred into the typical American home of today. This is explained by Silas H. Al-torfer, Al-torfer, president of the concern, who points out that the modern housewife is an executive or manager, mana-ger, instead of a drudge as formerly, former-ly, owing to the introduction of labor-saving devices into the home. By means of these devices much of the back-breaking labor which was once an inseparable accompaniment accom-paniment of housekeeping has been eliminated, not only in the cities and towns, but in rural homes as well, where electricity is available. One of the finest achievements of applied science is seen in the noble part it is playing in the emancipation emancipa-tion of womanhood from the gruelling gruel-ling toil of the past. Modern home equipment contributes con-tributes to the comfort and happiness happi-ness of the "new-style wife," besides be-sides preserving her health and beauty to a marked degree, and enhances en-hances the joys of home life for the entire family. |
