We may be profoundly thankful for the fact that "hope springs eternal in the human breast." Man, like every living creature, is born under the sentence of death, which rest alike upon the king on his throne and the murderer murder-er in his cell. None is exempt. That we can cheerfully and hopefully hope-fully "carry on" in the face of this certainty and in the midst of the trials of our daily existence Is convincing con-vincing evidence of man's courage and fortitude. These reflections are not intended to spread gloom or discouragement, but are merely a reminder, that, taken at its best, there is enough of anguish in the world, without anyone seeking to make the burden bur-den of another harder to bear. Along the thorny paths of life each can do much to aid, comfort and encourage his neighbor. Why, then, should we choose to do those things vt:rh needlessly bring added misery lo others Instead of joy? |
