Show FAIRVIEW By Special Correspondence , Parley R. Young, 80, died at his home January 31, 1930. He was born August 12, 1849, In Smith County, Virginia; joined the church and came to Utah in 1867. He married Florence Jane Young and they had two children. His wife died and later he married Bertha Hansen and Eliza Brlggs. Besides his wife, Eliza Brlggs Young, he Is survived by eleven of his thirteen children: Mrs. Laura Olsen of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Rachael Conover of Eureka, Parley A. Young of Cumberland, Wyoming, Mrs. Florence Watklns ol Salt Lake City, Mrs. Roxy Lossee of Delta, Mrs. Sarah Gardner of Murray; Jesse L., Floyd and Nel-don Nel-don Young of Fairview; he Is also survived by forty-one grandchildren. grandchild-ren. He was a Sunday School teacher and ward worker for many years. He has also done a great deal of Temple Work. Two of his sons have filled missions for the L. D. S. church and three sons took part in the World War. His eldest sou, Parley A. Young Is the bishop In Cumberland, Wyoming. Funeral services for Parley R. Young were held Monday In the North ward chapel with Bishop Henry Jones presiding. Music was by the ward choir with special numbers num-bers by Jesse L. Young and Mrs Ellis Coombs. The speakers were Fred Danlelson, Peter Peterson, his son, Parley A. Young, A. L. Carlston, Carl-ston, George Olsen and Bishop Jones. All spoke well of his life and paid tributes of honor to his n-.oinf.ry. Prayers were by James Anderson and Chancy Howell. The grave was dedicated by Jesse L. young. Mr. Young is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Vance of Mesa, Arizona, and two brothers, Cloyd Young of Colorado and Alma Young of Oklahoma. Mr. Earl Day of Portland, Oregon, Ore-gon, visited with Fairview relatives the past week. He is employed by the government In the forest service. serv-ice. Mr. and Mrs. Burns Cox and Mrs. Amasa Cox were Provo visitors visi-tors last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Larsen and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Brady of Idaho are spending the week with Fair-view Fair-view relatives. ' The following Fairview people went to Provo to attend funeral services for Dr. O. K. Hansen: Mrs. Amasa Cox, Mrs. Burns Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Christensen, Mr. John L. Bench, Mrs. Lena Orten, Mr. Hugh Anderson, Mr. Archie R. Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ros-coe Ros-coe Cox. Melvin Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cox, has accepted a call to the East Central States Mission. K farewell party will be held in his honor Thursday evening in the amusement hall. He will leave Fairview, February 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hansen and Mr. Hyrum Hansen are spending spend-ing the week here with relatives. |
